Aftermarket Steering Wheel

I find the stock steering wheel rather slippery. Can somebody guide me regarding what is involved to install an aftermarket steering wheel? After I remove the stocker, do I need some sort of adaptor to mount the new wheel to the steering column?

I think someone has done this on the RA but there was no detailed "how-to".

And no I don't care about the airbag, so please no safety-**** comments.

Subscribed. I've often wondered this as well. I think the evo wheel is plug n play but I'd like to know what it takes for aftermarket ones as well.

The Evo wheel is not plug and play on a 2006 RA, only on the 2004 and 2005.
You would need to change the steering column to put on an Evo wheel either the 2004-2005 RA or an Evo column.

Maybe SSP Ralliart or someone else who has stripped and raced their RA can help. There is a guy who did oval racing, I'll search and post the thread if I can find it.

Our steering column is identical to the evo 8-9. The only difference is the steering wheel which can be replaced very easily while keeping the air bag but here are some other options. The cheapest being , sandpaper 35 cents for a sheet from the hardware store and just sand it until its suede JK

Thanks for responding, guys. I'll keep researching too. Would be nice to get some names and p/n's of aftermarket parts that work for our car.

Lanzer, I almost tried that! Maybe little leather driving gloves would do the trick.
