Ive had my Kumho Ecsta ASTs for about a year and a half now and Ive beat the living hell out of them and racked up A LOT of miles and they arent bald yet, they are worn like crazy and the grip is starting to go but they aren't done for yet. Somethings not right here.
thats what i was thinking too..i got it done @ Vaughn and i checked the tires and they were fine when they put it on..

i was so pissed when i saw that it was BALD..i swear i could see the damn wires beneath the rubber..it was crazy bro..

but yea they said i "RACE" my RA and thats why that happened..trust me i DO NOT race and WILL NOT race my RA..maybe when shes all ready and taken care of but not anytime soon..

i had 211k on my RA when they were put on.. i have 239k now..so i put on 28k in almost a year of driving my RA lol..is that too much? i dont track my RA so it shouldnt be bald at all..thats weird huh..

im gonna monitor these new ones and see how far they get me..

PS: when they were doing the "tire investigation" they told me that my alignment was perfectly fine..

I am not so sure man. 28K is alot.
They have a 380AA rating and given that ratings dont compare well between companies they could be quite a soft compound.

How do the rears look ?
I cannot imagine the rears are in stellar condition.

Since 2007 I have gotten 2 seasons (April-November) per set of all seasons so far.

The racing comment sounds unwarranted though, why would you get those to race unless you race to lose ?

thats exactly what i told them..i said "why would i get these to race? and if i raced my car and balded my tires because of it, why would i come back to CanTire to replace it?" lmfao they were so dumb there..they just kept trying to sell me expensive tires

If you didn't ever rotate the fronts 28k would be more than I would expect them to last. You may not race your car but our cars still eat the front tires much quicker than the rear. I run all season and rotate the tire religiously every 5k when I do my oil changes. I typically get between 25-30k out of a set of mildly aggressive all seasons.

Unless the tires had a stated mileage warranty, there probably isn't much you could do. With a 380 tread rating I would expect 25k to be approximately what you would get anyway.

Driven hard, soft or otherwise you have a tyre that trades high mileage for high traction.
Plus, if you dont have winters, you've been doing a lot of involuntary wheel spinning.

Now is a good time to get a 4 wheel alignment done to rule out any influence from suspension geometry and wear etc.

i feel a bit better now that you guys are all backing me up on this tire wear..ill go get an alignment done and hopefully all is well..should i do any maintenance work on my RA before i go in for an alignment? (suspension check, rotation, brake check, all that jazz, etc)

and what is the average cost of a 4-wheel alignment?

thanks again guys!

There is nothing to do pre alignment, make sure all tyres are correctly inflated ??

I paid $90 for my last one.

Call around and ask if the shop has the machine with the alignment specifications for your car and the lasers and reflectors.

Also find out if they provide a print out with the before and after readings.

If you want winters get 15's, cheaper in the long run.
I know someone who MAY have their winter tyres on Sport Edition alloys for sale later this year.

i was thinking of getting 15s as it is cheaper when you think about it..the thing is i still need to find some nice rims that can replace my oem ones..ill be looking around..but then again my funds are going towards my trans rebuild so the wheels are going to have to wait for now

When I had my RA the stock all season tires lasted me about 40'000km. Then I purchased a set of summer tires. With about 50'000km there is still another summer season of driving on them.
If you're only getting 28'000km out of your tires I'd get my alignment checked. Maybe buy tires that are rated to have a longer tread life.. perhaps a touring tire of some sorts if you drive a lot.

So I guess 28k is somewhere in-between your range which is a good thing?

I haven't rotated mine yet since I got these new ones. I'll rotate them when I reach 5k (same time as I do my oil change). I usually rotate my own tires when I do my oil change but I don't own a torque wrench and sometimes I get worried that my lugs may be overtightened. I'm planning on picking one up sometime this week or maybe next when some of them go on sale.

Also,
DAMN! 40k on all-seasons? Did you grab the touring ones? That's a crazy number. How come SLC and I only get 30k max? That's some crazy tires you got
