strengthening 4G69 for high boost?

I've completed my engine swap (4G69 into OZ Rally / converted to manual) and I'm now beginning to plan for a turbo upgrade.

My motor has on it about 90,000km (55,000 miles) and other than a missing front o2 sensor (which makes the car run a bit too rich sometimes, but will be solved soon), the motor runs well and is a big step-up from the 4G94 I had before.

I plan to boost at about 10 to 15 psi eventually but I'm a little unsure if I should spend the extra cash on, for example:

- forged pistons
- brand new OEM connecting rods (or a stronger, aftermarket alternative -- anything available?)
- ARP head studs
- new gaskets, again, something aftermarket if available (??)
- new fuel pump and bigger injectors..
- p&p headstage/intake manifold (??)

Not sure if there is a need for anything else? I'm committed to achieving a reliable build over a short-lived street machine, so any advice on how I can ensure the motor will last a while is much appreciated. this will be my first turbo project

Thanks

Anyone have some suggestions for strengthening the 4G69, and if I need to go to these lengths with a 15psi boost?

You will definitely need to beef up internals to run 15 psi. I would say pistons, connecting rods, and arp head studs at a minimum. Bigger injectors are a given.

for connecting rods do i just buy OEM brand new, or are there aftermarket/stronger ones available for 4G69?

what else might i want to consider?

you could use aftermarket evo rods but you'll need to get the measurements correct for the pistons

stock Evo/dsm rods would probably work fine for 10-15psi, but it really depends more on power output...pistons will need to be aftermarket, and you'll want high quality main bearings as well...

that being said you could probably find a set of used eagle or manley rods for a decent price. or someone who has them but never got around to installing them, and got rid of the car (that's how i scored an LSD and a clutch). Pistons i think are specific, i don't know if you can just use 4g63 stroker pistons or not...

i'll get the specs on the forged pistons for 4G69 and see if they will fit with rods by manley

thanks, will contact eagle too, see if they are able to find a compatible connecting rod, then upon hopefully having the part # identified, i'll seek out used

7 bolt 4g63 rods are the same size as ours, so any evo 8/9 rod will work...

ah perfect, good news. beyond the pistons, connecting rods/main bearings, head studs and head gasket, what else might i want to consider looking at engine-wise?

10psi isn't major, i've seen the 4G69 boosted higher, but i want to play it safe

that should be fine...for 10psi

you'll want an LSD of some kind as well as sticky street tires, or driving will be stupid...and of course a stronger clutch...for 10-15 you might want to go stage 2.
