17" wheel or 16"?

Hello so im planning to get coilovers very soon for my 05 RA and i would like to put enkei ekm3 wheels on, but i dont know if i should choose 16 or 17" wheels? Would 17" be too big and rub in the fender? What you guys think?

This thread should really be in the suspension section. And if you search there are many threads about fitment and what will work and what wont.

However its not just the diameter when talking about fitment. You need to know the offset and width of the wheels to have a better understanding of where they will be inside the wheel well.

My advice would be to look up the offset and width, then search around in the Suspension section there is a big thread called agressive wheel fitment or something like that where people have been talking about what fits and what doesnt for a long time now. Once you have a better idea of what fits and what dont, you can start looking for a tire that will properly fit, if your wheels will work at all.

Good luck!

Also it depends on what you plan to do with the car. I track my car occasionally and run some very light 16's for better performance. If you just want looks than go 17's.

Does the track have turns? If so, 17"s. If it's straight and only about a quarter-mile long, 16"s.

With a bigger wheel you have better steering response on a track in the corners. With 16's you'll have a bigger sidewall and thus more flex. I was faced with the same dilemma before buying my wheels. Get the 16x7s or the 17x7.5s... I went with the 16's with 225/45 tires. I love them.

I went with 16's and tires with a notoriously sturdy sidewall...happy medium

Same as the two above me. I got motegi mr-125s they weigh 15lbs a piece. With bfgoodrich kdw g-force 2's they have a stiff side wall and tremendous dry and wet grip.

i got handed down drag dr-23 17x7 and they rubbed a bit on the fender lips on the rear and after i rolled the fenders i still had an ocassional rub on hard bumps...never got around to find out on what before i sold the car tho
i also had hand me down odd sized tires...205/50/17 goodyear eagle gt(only 2 came with the wheels) fronts and 225/45/17 continental contiprocontact rears(swiped from the junk pile at work)...
