Hoping one of you can help me out or point me in the right direction.
Today my ralliart died.
It's an 06 (Manual) 160xxx KM.

Leading up to tonight when it died, I was beginning to notice some odd things with my clutch. It started to give me vibrating feedback whenever the clutch was engaged. After that, when the clutch was engaged it began to have a constant tick. Today it was squealing when engaged. I drove it home to take a closer look. My clutch fluid was slightly low, after topping it off the squealing went away. Took it for a test run around the block, it was feeling a bit better, almost back to normal minus a very slight vibration when engaged. However about a block from home I started hearing a nasty chewing noise, almost like something was breaking apart. I was able to almost get home when I came to a complete stop and the car shut off. Cannot start it now. I have power, but when I try and start it, it just clicks. Is it safe to say it's the clutch? Hopefully one of you Lancer Geniuses has experienced this or could point me in the right direction. Thanks guys.

 

did you put it in neutral and try starting it?

how low was the brake fluid? I'm trying to figure out why adding brake fluid made the squealing noise go away...

 

Yes, no luck.
The clutch fluid was slightly below MAX level.
It wasn't dry that's for sure, but it was lower than usual.
Topping this off definitely made the squealing go away.

 

brake fluid is just hydraulic, it's not used as a lubricant, so it doesn't make sense that adding brake fluid to the revervoir would eliminate any noise. it sounds like your throw out bearing may have destroyed the clutch...when you press the clutch pedal, does the slave cylinder move?

I got it fixed at the shop.
Turns out it was the throwout bearing.
Grenaded pretty good and almost destroyed the tranny.
Flywheel also got beat up, but she's all good now.
