how do they work? they do not click on and off when you press on it. i know there should be a relay, but im wondering how they operate if they do no click on or off. thanks guys!

There is a funky piece in the fuse box by the engine that controls the headlights and fogs. There is no relay as far as I recollect.

hmm... i dont see why the factory wouldnt use a relay. doesnt seem feasible for them not to. but then again, we dont have cabin air filters stock.

so, i've done some research and it might be an auto latching relay. im not 100% sure. but im leaning towards it.

what i mean is that the oem fog switch does not function like a normal switch. that will click on or off. its more of a momentary switch. there is nothing internal that will hold it in place once it is pushed down.

i know this for a fact because i bought two switches. one oem evo spec and other from a galant. both look and function the same.

you're opening question was "how do they work"...it seems you have your answer...so what you really want to know is how the control circuit works..

yes, i need to know that too.

latching relay's work until power is cut off going to the relay. so, if the switch was wired to that, there would be no way to turn the fog lights off once they are turned on unless i turn off the lights all together to cut the power going to it. i dont want to do that, and it seems kind of crazy that they would come like that from the factory.

ok, so you're running aftermarket fogs in a car that didn't have fogs from the factory, yes?

i looked through the diagrams...there is in fact a separate relay for the foglights, but the control circuit is integrated in the front ECU and associated wiring...

it sounds like you are describing a normally open (N/O) holding contact, say?

yeah, you need a front ECU from a car that had OEM foglights, and then you need to wire the switch and the relay to it as per OEM...

you could make a circuit that will turn the lights on and off with normally open momentary switch.
