OEM fog light switch
OEM fog light switch
how do they work? they do not click on and off when you press on it. i know there should be a relay, but im wondering how they operate if they do no click on or off. thanks guys!
so, i've done some research and it might be an auto latching relay. im not 100% sure. but im leaning towards it.
what i mean is that the oem fog switch does not function like a normal switch. that will click on or off. its more of a momentary switch. there is nothing internal that will hold it in place once it is pushed down.
i know this for a fact because i bought two switches. one oem evo spec and other from a galant. both look and function the same.
latching relay's work until power is cut off going to the relay. so, if the switch was wired to that, there would be no way to turn the fog lights off once they are turned on unless i turn off the lights all together to cut the power going to it. i dont want to do that, and it seems kind of crazy that they would come like that from the factory.

ok, so you're running aftermarket fogs in a car that didn't have fogs from the factory, yes?
i looked through the diagrams...there is in fact a separate relay for the foglights, but the control circuit is integrated in the front ECU and associated wiring...
