Hey guys, I was having a fan issue... They cut on and off all of the time. It never runs hot or smells like it is. The fans sometimes come on like 5 sec after starting it, even when it is cold or haven't ran it in hours! It is very annoying. It's like somebody is playing the turntables with my fans at times. Please help!

 

The Fan Control Modules in these cars are known to go bad if they are the OEM box. Replace the FCM and it should resolve your problem.

 

Yeah I actually saw that on another thread. And I looked it up on amazon and they had a replacement part for $26. Which is much better than the $175 the dealer wants. I appreciate you writing me back!

 

Wow...$26? That's cheap for a FCM. Is it brand new?
I went to the wreckers and I was lucky enough to be able to grab 4 of them but I'm not sure if they're all functional. Will install when I have time.
But yeah, replace the FCM and you should be good to go.

I got an ebay one from china(lol I know, dont yell) for 12 bucks and it fixed my fans and I havent had a problem, been using it for about a year now.

 

It's a fan controller, if it it works, awesome, if it doesn't, get another one for 12 bucks...for something like that I wouldn't worry about quality too much...

I buy Chinese made ABS sensors...$35 as opposed to $400 at the dealer here in Canada...certain things I would only buy genuine Mitsubishi, the FCM is not one of those things...

 

Ya the dinks at my Mitsubishi dealer said they were back ordered for a year plus, Amazon had them for like 170 something. Figured I was already using a faulty one how much worse could a Chinese one be.
