i got one of those japanese key chains that have a little circuit board in it.. if you touch the tip, it takes the static charge and lights up some LCD display to sort of "use up" the charge.. so you don't get shocked

Getting shocked by my car rules. Why does anyone want to avoid it? But I have the same problem with my car, and have the mentality of psionic where I am always just jumping out of my car and shocking the hell out of myself.

I'm very interested in knowing why this happens to me... I just had the seats recovered in my RA to be leather and I still get the shock... Shouldn't be any static caused by sliding on leather...

I'm surprised mine hasn't shocked me yet. And my past two cars did it ALL the time.

Yeah, this past winter I got shocked so hard that I thought it would take my finger off. Now I use whatever I have in my hands to close the door. Someone told me to carry a metal wire coat hangar and ground myself before getting out, but that would look just plain silly. Sometimes I use my foot to close the door. I think its electroshock therapy, Mitsu is trying to get you to stay in the car and drive it!

Bah, go down to K-mart and buy that Static X or some crap like that. Its in a blue spray can with an orange lid. You find it with the laundry stuff. Give your seats a good spray and you're good to go. Helps stop the static electricity. (I use to work at K-mart btw =P )

Every time I get out of my car and touch the door, it shocks the crap out of me.

I thought it was just cold and crisp outside and I was building up a static charge. but I got shocked at the gas station, as usual tonight. I realized that the gas pump was out of order so I backed up and got out. It shocked me again. Hard. I drove home and got out and I saw a 1 inch blue spark arc out and hit me in the palm. My arm still feels numb. It even shocks me through my pants sometimes. I've been putting up with it but its starting to get annoying. Any other Ralliart owners have these experiences.

Or any techies out there that can give me some advice?
Do EXACTLY what I describe and you won't be shocked again. When you arrive and open your door, before you do anything else, put your hand on the roof or the door frame. Only after you have your hand on one of those metal surfaces do you take your feet out of the footwell and put them outside the car. After you stand up outside the car then you take your hand off the car. I use the doorframe because it's easier for me to hold the edge of the door than reach the roof. Works every time.

yea, i think it has to do with the seats in the ra/lancer/evo
they hold alot of static.
if my dog is riding in the car, and hes been in the backseat for a while and he comes and sticks his head between the seats and touches you in the front seat, ZAP.
ive gotten used to it though. <3 static
