Unhappy Shocking Ralliart

I gotta say that I love my Silver Ralliart, and even though nobody ever tries to race me and don't know what it is, I think its the best. I think I have a little problem though.

Every time I get out of my car and touch the door, it shocks the crap out of me.

I thought it was just cold and crisp outside and I was building up a static charge. but I got shocked at the gas station, as usual tonight. I realized that the gas pump was out of order so I backed up and got out. It shocked me again. Hard. I drove home and got out and I saw a 1 inch blue spark arc out and hit me in the palm. My arm still feels numb. It even shocks me through my pants sometimes. I've been putting up with it but its starting to get annoying. Any other Ralliart owners have these experiences.

Or any techies out there that can give me some advice?

Lol you guys....when you're getting out of the car, you're sliding your phat a** on the seat creating static. Then when you touch metal *pssst* you get a little shock.

My secret, be sure to touch the frame of the door and hold it while you get out.

i just hit my hand against the door when i get out, that way u'll just feel your hand bumping the door instead of the spark..it works

i've been complaining about this forever, i thought my car was just messed up and maybe not grounded right. Now its a habit whenever i get out of any car i tap my forearm on the door first before i shut it b/c it doesn't hurt as much as on the hand.

Thats not what I heard. I heard what people do is get out of their car, pay for their gas, then leave it pumping by itself. The person then goes into his/her car, does the static butt charge, gets out of the car without discharging the static, grabs the pump handle and create a zap igniting the gas.

Barb-B-Q anyone?!?!

^^^ he is right! I think the reason why we get a static shock is because the ralliart seats are like bucket seats so no matter how you get out you end up sliding your butt on your seat creating the static.

lol this is a funny post.. but it has happend to me too, and it seems it happens more now with my 04 OZ than any other car I've owned combined.....lol I took my uncle for a drive and he made the comment as well, just as he gets a huge shock that I could see as he got out haha......hmm maybe this is a good reason to get the APEX Super Ground System?!?!?!

It happens to me daily. Sometimes I'll touch someone as I'm getting out of my car and I shock them. It sucks, I'm used to it. And the reason no one wants to race you is because you don't look intimidating in a Silver 4 door Sedan. Trust me, I have the same car as you and even with exhaust, loud *** Cold Air, and neons I don't get people wanting to race. If you wanted everyone revin' on ya, and wanting to race, you should have bought a 2 door car, or have bought a YELLOW RA. Yellow will get you the races you seem to want.

getting a better ground system for the car will not affect you getting zapped when getting out of the car.. unless you take one of them ground wires and attach it to yourself!!

Best thing to do is touch teh door or door sil before you put your feet on the ground... then stand up holding on to the door... I get shocked daily, but only because I just jump out of my car without paying attention!
