Pulley Noises?

I have started to hear some rattling from my pulleys during idle, mainly the alternator. Went to the dealer and they said that the bearings are wearing out. That seems to be a little soon for malfunctions. Has any one else experienced this yet?

Tell them that's bullsh*t and that they need to fix it. Even if you do have 22K+ on the car, pulleys shouldn't do that.

The repairs will be covered under warranty, but it sucks that things are going wrong already.

I think Mitsu kicked themselves in the nuts when they didn't give this thing an overdrive gear.

definately. I drive about 150 miles a day on the freeway. I could really use an extra gear

Chuck, are you going to have the dealer fix it or replace whatever needs to be replaced? Let us all know the outcome. So when and if it starts (knock on wood) doing that on my car, I would know what the problem might be.

And let us know what they fixed/replaced to cure the rattleing. Thanks.

The noise I have been hearing turned out to be the timing belt tensioner. Not something to ignore. The bearings are starting to go out on it. The dealer has ordered a new tensioner, timing belt and sepintine belt for it. All under warranty . Just out of my car for a couple days, at least I have a work van to drive around till then.

I just picked up my car today and it is so much better. The dealer notified Mitsubishi Motors about the problem, so if anyone else notices any wierd noises from the front of the motor, make sure to take it in ASAP and have the dealer notify Mitsu. After driving my work van for two days I remember why I like my car so much.

If enough people have the problem, Mitsu will issue a recall and replace all the bad crap with good crap.
