Would stiffening up the shocks allow the care to be more stable in the turns? (less body roll)

I know springs would do this, but they're not allowed in stock class.

I went to an scca autox right after I bought my ra, (they provided helmets)
I didnt run my car though, I just went with some friends. I really wanted to run it though, I dont know if the wife will let me, she drives it more than I do.

And also mine came with potenzas.

Theres a trick to getting away with modified springs you can get your stock springs re-heat treated for a lower ride height. Look at your stock springs before you have it done and take note of the color code marks and write them down. Don’t lower the car more than 1.5 inches with the stock spring rate. When you have them done, paint the spring the proper shade of semi-gloss and re-apply the color code marks using model paint or paint pens. Then laugh at the tech inspectors and kick some butt. You might not be able to get away with this stuff at some places but for nationals and local races you should have no problem showing the techs. "Honest sir the car came with these" hahahaha

Faded, not sure if that would fly at nationals, although you are correct that there is no published stock ride height to compare it to, so I guess they couldn't protest anything. But it doesn't matter that much because the truth is that shocks improve handling more than springs.

Dugrant, yes stiffer shocks will reduce body roll. More importantly, if he gets a set of adjustable shocks he can fine tune the handling for proper oversteer. I believe he said it was pushing a lot, so running the shocks stiffer in the rear might help remedy some of that. That and trail braking... I gotta learn that myself!

sweeeet!! I'm sooo getting adjustable shocks when I get a chance ... to buy my car, that is.
yeah, well, given that it's a FWD, it's normal for it to push.

What is trail braking??? It might sound pretty dumb but I don't think I've heard of that (at least not in english)... is it a technique to rotate the rear of the car?

Hey guys, its great to see there is a lot of support for auto x out there. If i wato run stock clas next year, then i would get some adjustable konis or tokicos to stifen up the spring rate and get less body roll, even though the ra doesn't have a lot compared to integras, civics, 3s, and just about any other competeitive car. You just have to set up the back of the car stiffer than the front to get it to oversteer a little, along with the tire pressure. Also I am going to get a set of Kumho victoracers.

Also, thanks urbanknight, i appreciate your support as well. And yeah i definitely want to go down to road race and check out some of his products. Im really intersted in the lowering springs and the camber, maybe even the lsd.

Sean, I plan on heading down to Road///Race in a couple weeks if you wanna cruise down with me. But just to let you know, LSD is not allowed in STS class but is allowed in SP if they class your car there soon, but Rob already has a piggy back ECU, cold air intake, springs, I think the Tein SS kit with fit yours too, and a few other parts that are all legal in STS. Just let me know if you ever wanna go down and check out the shop's RA. It's awesome, I got a ride in it tonight!!

Just a little note about helmets, I think most events have loaner helmets if you dont have one.

That's true, the So Cal region has loaner helmets on a first come basis. David used them his last 2 events.

There will be no H symbol warship here mister...

Its actually not the car, its the aftermarket catching up to the car and the crappy stock tires. As soon as it does and you change her shoes, the RA will run circles around most compacts out there (depending on what mods you throw at it). All you need to do is some tuning, and more driving practice.

With all that torque in the RA, you just need to learn how to launch it...

Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice

Then practice some more...

LSD pushes you into Street Prepared, which is still worthy of being driven on the streets, but those cars are well prepped, and it's an R compound tire class. I might actually look into racing in FSP next year, if I can afford LSD and custom control arms.
