SCC: "20 Grand Smackdown" Spec-V vs. Ralliart [56K Warning] [MERGED]
I have driven both and the reason I bought the RA over the Spec-V is the look on the outside of the 04 (dont like the grill, but I really liked the 03), and the interior just wasnt as roomy and/or nice as the RA. The performance is negligable at best between the two. These two cars compare nicely and I am sure this debate will go on for years to come just as many other import debates have in the past.
All-in-all they are both VERY nice cars with a LOT to offer anyone who has the pleasure of driving them.

I took my ralliart for a little drive this morning through American Fork canyon in Utah. 20 MPH curves my ***. I had no problem with the performance. the switch backs are great! the only thing i noticed was that some beter rubber would have been nice on one spcific switch back that was a little tight. anyway after that who cares about the spec v?

The Mr2 being one hell of a great handling car never had a problem with the tires so maybe you guys are just a bit too picky...LOL

maybe tightening up the body roll too would add to the car's performance to make it good?
Actually, if you read the stats for the Speed magazine desert showdown, you'll see the Ralliart have "heavy understeer" in the Skid pad, but only "mild understeer" in the slalom. The Sentra Spec V posted "moderate understeer" for both skidpad and slalom.
I think the fact that it did better in the slalom than the skidpad shows that it's most likely the tires that are causing the car to roll over on itself, so to speak. But a stiffer suspension wouldn't help either.
I dunno about you guys, but I didn't feel too much body roll when I drove the Ralliart Sportback. Maybe its just me?
