Gauges

Has anyone installed gauges in their RA yet? This weekend I installed an autometer air/fuel ratio and an oil gauge. Well it was completely different than what I had thought. I looked around the forums to see what everyone else has done, and I thought it would be simple enough. I went to hook up my wires to the ecu and it looked nothing like the pictures on the forum. I decided to splice into the o2 sensor and saw that it had 4 wires 2 black, 1 white, and 1 blue. I called the local mitsu dealer and they said use the white wire. I did and it didn't work. It did finally work when I spliced into the blue wire. Haven't really figured that one out yet. I installed my oil gauge and when it came time to hook up the oil sender, I noticed that I needed a metric insert for my t. Wll have to wait till mon. to finish the install. Just wanted to see if anyone else had installed these gauges and run into any problems.

not installed into a Ralliart...although the front O2 sensor is a wideband style and will not read properly with a normal O2 gauge...you want to splice the ECU for that voltage.

For the oil sensor you need to mount the sender near the oil filter and then wire it from there into the car...it worked fine for me.

I would have spliced the ecu, but I do not know which wire it is and have not found anyone else who does either. The spot beside the oil filter is jam up beside the belts so I would have to get some kind of extension for that and I dont think that would be the way to go, but hey, thats just me.

i got two adapters and teed it near the oil filter...it is tight but there shouldn't b e any problems. There really isn't any other way.

It is possible that the above ECU map is similar to yours...be careful and I would recommend using a OHM meter to test before you hookup your A/F gauge.

The ecu in the above pic is no where simliar to what I have. I have 4 rows of wires and like 5 white wires. I could use an ohm meter, but I didn't have one at the time.

The pics of the oil pressure gauge for the evo is nothing like what I have. The only plug close to the filter on that side of the engine is partially under the belt housing. The easiest way to do it is take out the factory oil sensor and t it off there. There is more than enough room there to do what you want. I just didn't have a metric adaptor for my t.

the adapter is nothing special, I picked them up at the auto parts store, although it took a couple of trips to make it right...they had everything I needed.

Supposivevly the rear O2 sensor white wire will give you the voltage you need for the O2 sensor, although not personally trying this I cannot be for sure. Good Luck, it looks like somebody on here needs to buy the Ralliart shop manual.
