Arrow Ralliart in Road & Track Shootout

http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....&page_number=1

Haven't read the article yet myself, I just happened upon it 2 seconds ago. Apparently it was just released today. I'll bet a buck that the SRT-4 gets some good reviews to be sure.

well, in short, they just said something nice about everyone, but the ralliart seemed to be given the least-sports-car-like label, but most comfortable day to day. how the celica gts beat the srt-4 i'll never know.

Handling is how the Celica won. The Neon is fast in a straight line, but gets loose on a track or in turns (w/o suspension mods).

I wonder how our RA would do in all these magazine comparisons if it had 17's w/ summer rubber. I bet it would score waaaay higher

that's the thing. apparently the weakest link in the ralliart (and its a weak one) are the tires. those of course are very easily upgraded, and with a few suspension mods (stiffer springs and maybe a rear strut brace) i bet it would jump way up in the ratings.

here's the other thing... almost every other car had AFTERMARKET (though manufacturer specific, not a stock package) suspension and drivetrain upgrades already on (to the tune of up to $4000). for 4 extra grand, i bet you guys could make a killer autocrossing ralliart.

the playing field (cost wise) wasn't even considered, which kinda defeats the point IMO.

"Although similar in a number of areas (price, power, performance, front-wheel drive, etc.), each of our seven test cars possesses its own distinct character and personality traits"

Thats realy true, Before I got a ralliart i was looking into getting a spec-v before they switched to the buck tooth desgin and even then they were compairing the spec-v to FI cars. It's hard to compaire cars. They compared Factory "special" cars. The ralliart dosn't have any special "ralliart" tuned products. it just has a sporty engine. all the other cars do have specfic tunning from specail groups. ie: ford - SVT, Mazda - Mazdaspeed/ callaway (turbo) , Nissan - Nismo. I usally just take these reviews and say well.. Are N/A vehical is beeing rated with FI cars. hmm.... crappy for them that they cant performe aswell as real FI cars and to show that there faster they compare with N/A cars.

i don't see how they are even that close in price. i mean the ralliart is what, 18 msrp and the srt-4 is 21. that's 3 grand right there. you can change A LOT with 3 grand. and the SI had a 4K kit on it, and that's on top of its 19K msrp. and lets not forget the celica gts with the action package... 24K! that's 6 grand more!

in my book, the ralliart is still one of the better deals out there.

this is an old story. it's from Speed magazine. We already had a huge discussion about this. But still, it's a good discussion.

the tires are good for drifting if you stiffen up the back end!

How does the ralliaet score 7th when it is faster then at least 2 or 3 of the other cars? Makes no sence. And besides that with the 5 grand I didn't spend on the Neon I could really mod my ralliart and smoke oll of them.

They got those rankings based exclusively on lap times. Althought the RA was quicker to 60 and 1/4, it was slowest in lap times. (again, tires, rims and a fat sway bar in we're in the top 3 - easy - and still cheaper)
