Question Hand Brake Problem....

I rotated my tires when i changed my oil a couple days ago. I had my car on jackstands, and obviously had my hand brake engaged when taking off the rear tires. I was using a non-power tool to take off the lugs. When I got to the passenger rear tire and turned the first lug, the wheel turned about 4 inches before it stopped.. I turned it back, and again, about 4 inches of play. The driver side was locked up tight.
Any suggestions?

Take it back to the dealership and have them check it out. No sense fighting it when you have a warantee to cover your problems.

Ok, So I finally was able to get my car over to the dealer to have the hand brake problem checked out. 6 hours later, I get the call that my car is ready, so i cruise over to pick it up... And they tell me that what the back passenger wheel does is perfectly normal, that it has a couple inches of "play" to avoid the hand brake from locking up over time.

So Now i ask the lancer community, is the dealer being lazy or is this correct?

P.S. My Mitsu dealer is being relocated so all of the service is being conducted at the chain's Ford dealer...mayhaps a problem? Let me know!
THanks!

If you are relatively familiar with brake setups (and have looked at a drum in disc setup before) I'd take the discs off yourself and double-check everything. If you're happy with how things look, they I'd take Mitsu's word for it.

Yeah, not a bad idea...I was hoping for a warranty fix, but who wouldn't? Well, i'll do that and if anything looks odd i'll take some pix and post them.

Just wanted to add an update. It turns out that the wheel is supposed to turn like that. one locks, the other doesn't. its supposed to resisted ceasing.
