Question another newb question

What is generally the first mod you should make to your car? I wanted to get a GReddy EVO 2 Catback exhaust, but someone said i should go CAI first. Any thoughts? Second, I've heard that the CAI wont void any warranties-this true? And what about the catback exhaust? I'm sorry for these questions....total newb, but fascinated cars...so im learning.

Another question...Last time I changed my oil...the guys at jiffy lube said that I needed a new airfilter, but that they were out...what can happen to it if i dont change it soon? And is a CAI related in any way to the airfilter?

As long as it is a catback exhaust it shouldn't void anything. But I belive the CAI will. Also the CAI is going to replace you stock air filter.

thats funny, cuz someone told me the CAI is just making your car "breathe" better, and that cant be grounds for losing your warranty.

This is how it goes as far as I know; Both the exhaust and the CAI will increase performance personally I think that the CAI is the best bang for your buck and when you do do the exhaust you'll get more out of it. It's true that the CAI doesn't void the warranty as long as it isn't the cause of the damage to your car, for example if your engine has a valve break loose and drop into the combustion chamber and mess up the engine warranty covers it, but if your engine gets hydrolocked from going through a puddle with a CAI no warranty. I don't think the exhaust voids anything ether. As for the air filter they would say anything to get you to by a new one from them, but check yourself it's on the right hand side under your hood and really easy to check. If you can't find it or figure out how to take it out or if it's dirty psot a question here and someone will help you.

FDMH, was it your first oil change? The stock air filter shouldn't be replaced until 15,000 miles. The Jiffy Lube guy was just trying to sell you one so he could make his commission, or quota, or whatever those bastards do.

Just go to the dealership to get your stuff changed. No hassles there.

Mitsu told me that they will not void your warranty if a bypass valve is present on your CAI.
