Thumbs down I was robbed by Mitsubishi.

So I just got my '05 RA. At first I was supposed to have the normal headunit (sun/sound) with single cd player but the car was delivered with an extra 6CD unit. I told them I didnt want the 6CD player because I was going to remove the main headunit anyway and put my Kenwood Mp3 player. So I'd be stuck with 2 cd players (1 single and 1 6CD). He told me they could not remove the 6CD player and I would have to wait another 3-4 weeks before they could deliver me a RA with only the single cd player. I said I didnt want to pay for the 6CD player and I wanted the car right now because I received it more than 2 weeks late and couldnt wait anymore. He told me he would talk to is manager (the infamous Brian) about this and call me back.

He called me back 5 minutes later and told me that Brian told him the 6CD player could play Mp3s. I said fine then, I ll keep it and sell my Kenwood head unit (so I could finally get a hold of my car and I didnt feel like aguing over the phone for 30 minutes). Yesterday I tried for the first time my mp3 cds and none worked. The 6CD player that was supposed to play MP3 DOSENT play MP3 CDs at all. Ive tried a couple and none worked. The unit simply ejects them after a couple of seconds. I tried to call Mitsu but couldnt get anyone to answer the phone line and they are closed on week-ends.

Pissed.I.am.

They're gonna so much hear from me that its even gonna hurt their wives. I pay an added 8$/month for this useless piece of #$%? that cant even play Mp3s and there, right by my side, I have this mp3 player waiting on the desk.

By the way they told me I would also get the exhaust tip but now they tell that the seller didnt know much about it at the time I bought the car and I will have to actually buy it cause it doesnt come with the car. YEA RIGHT. THANKS FOR TELLING THAT AFTER I SIGNED THE @$#%$%? CONTRACT.

One name: Sherbrooke Mistubishi. Good way to keep your customers.

Well, I used the one I normally use in any mp3 player... Do I really need some kind of high quality CD-Rs ?? It's not even written on the cd player that is plays Mp3s. I tried 3 different brand of CD-Rs.

I used to have a mp3 player that only accepted high quality CD-Rs!

Just bring it back!

Yeah, that salesman didn't know what the hell he was talking about. The unit that they installed is just the standard 6-disc changer. You're under no obligation to keep that thing in your car, since the guy lied to you. That changer WILL NOT play mp3 encoded discs.

Give them hell, man. That's such shady selling. Also, DO NOT get the Mitsu exhaust finisher. It is gay and you can barely see it on the car. Save your money. Plus, it falls off the car after a few weeks (or at least gets really loose). Some of us learned the hard way. Save your cash for a real tip.

The single CD player is very picky about CD-Rs, too. Some of my CDs won't play in it. It just spits them back out after ~15 seconds. The Alpine unit in my Talon plays 'em just fine.

My infinity stereo in the sun and sound package plays all my mp3 in my 04. might be a weak program on your computer also. Try a burner like nero and it will format cds in mp3 cd what ever

Post Very Important

If you guys have an MP3 player that doesn't accept certain disks, be sure to burn your CD-ROMs in the most compatible format available. For instance, be sure to use ISO instead of Joliet, and short file names (no more than 31 caracters) instead of complete novels!!!

If this does not solve your problem, it is aslo a good thing to switch recording media. Some laser pickups (read: cheap ones) will have a hard time reading certain media, often due to the color of the substrate. Try using Kodak gold media (archival quality) and see if your problem is solved. Another advantage of using archival level media is a much better shelf life (50 years) instead of a mere 2-3 years for the cheapest ones out there.

No, cheap media does not affect the quality of the sound reproduced by your CD player... but it will make your life miserable when used in low quality equipment. Since most stock units are of poor design and use the lowest quality components (for instance laser pickups), it's always better to put all the chances on your side and use better than average media...

That's it... and next time children, don't forget to bring an apple!

I've heard only the S&S unit for the '05 model year does it... but if he says his HU does it, it must be true.

I wonder if Mitsubishi buys all it's units from the same manufacturer though... some companies will have more than one supplier and they might only meet operationnal and aesthetics requirements... so the actual software may be different (thus one unit being able to handle MP3s while another doesn't).

According to the law here, in Va at least, if within 24 hours you are not satisfied with the car you CAN take it back. I had a sentra se-r before my ralliart and i swear the second i drove it off the lot, the engine started making a really loud noise. Then when i was waiting for them to look at it i saw the ralliart. I told them that I was really interested in that because it was all the way in the corner of the lot. And the salesperson asked me if i wanted to exchange........i asked him if he was joking and he said that it was the law if you dont like the car and youve had it for 24 hours or less that you can return it. I dont know how long youve had your ride for but this may also help somebody out in the future...

no stock cd player in any lancer can play mp3 encoded cd's. I think cleotis was talking about discs that have mp3's written in cd-track format. Those can play in any lancer cd player as long as they are burned properly, nicely explained by workz
