Let's just say that I'm one of the "senior" members in the RA section, but true, I'm immature!

 

lol. sorry i assume alot of the ppl on here are younger then me. but im not to mature either.

 

hey quick question guys...i just got my car back from the shop. my mom got into an accident with the car and bent one of the struts. so since i had already bought them, i had the guys replace all four struts and springs with the tein basics.

question is it suppose to make all sorts creaking noise for the first couple of miles? i would have asked the technicians but they were closed.

 

^im guessing theyll creek a little jus b/c their brand new and have to break in, but i might be wrong.......jus speaking from the past.


other than the creeking, how do the basics ride, handle, etc. compared to the progress springs?

 

^to be honest, i havent really driven them much because of all the creeking. i was kinda scared something might be loose lol. i havent taken any corners yet, but the car definitely feels alot stiffer. and driving home through the city, the ride is not very harsh at all. i'm gonna get it checked out and then do some experimenting.

 

Mine creak a little... especially in cold weather. I dropped my car a little lower then how they are set out of the box and notice a little more noise. I'm about 3 threads from the bottom.

anyways, i've started driving again and i'm very impressed with the ride. the steering feels so much more responsive and it feels like can take every turn at like 80 miles. lol, ok maybe not 80 but u know what i mean. and no its not harsh at all and i live in the a city with pretty bad pavement. they are kinda pricey but definitely worth the money.

 

im thinkin about ordering some basics as well. but im gonna buy some light weight konigs before i get the coilovers. 2g for the wheels, then another 800 for the coilovers. its gonna suck for my wallet, but hopefully it pays off.

 

^2 grand for some wheels??!! dude, what kind r u getting? it better be some volks or advans with some really slick tires...

 

i've had the basics on for about 2 weeks now. its not making as much noise as it was in the beginning. but all of a sudden now when i turn to the right, it makes very loud clucking noises. it just started doing that today. do u guys think a little lube would work?

 

hey samj601, them basics that you got, were they really for ralliarts? because there are also basics for non ralliart lancers. their prices are almost the same between various stores. i thought that really didnt make much a difference. but in your case, i dunno??

and have you had it aligned, maybe?

 

yea, i'm pretty sure i ordered the right ones and got an alignment right after they were put on. the ones for the oz are the same for the ralliart. i've been told that some suspension noises could be normal with the coilovers. i dunno tho...

 

they creek alot initially but should quiet down after a while..
the best advice i can give is to get them installed by a mechanic whos into performance parts

i dont suggest general mechanics to do a good job
