600 just for fronts?!?! Man, go to rrm and order kyb ones. Front and rear for 439 usd. Installation is really easy. I'm sure many people can help guide you through it if you're up for doing it yourself!

Check out Flip's For Sale thread. He's got 2 kyb gr2 front struts for 175 brand new, or you can get them from rockauto.com for $98 a piece. If you got Flip's it'd be $175 and you could install them yourself, and take that $400 and buy yourself something nice for your car. I am taking my struts out and putting on progress springs on my own and i've never done it before, but theres only like 6 bolts and there out. Good luck man!

130 a strut, 50 a piece for the strut mounts plus tax. then to get them installed, because i live in jersey.. there are pot holes everywhere since its been snowing. so if he installs them i get a 1 year warentee. if i buy my own and he puts em in then if something goes wrong he has to charge for labor again. and i dont have the time to do it myself. plus its cold and raining here this week and they need to be changed asap

Brand new front KYB struts are $100 each; $85 for Monroe. Top mounts are $25 each, unless you want an Evo style one with a bearing instead of a bushing, that'd be $50. His labor quote is about right (about 2 billable hours). Buy the parts yourself then have them install if you want to save money.

some autoparts shops "rent" tools for the job you're doing, i know partsource does...you just give them a credit card number in case you don't bring the tools back...

also, the parts have a warranty, not the work...if you do it it right, the warranty is the same as if a mechanic does it, and it's not like it's rocket science or anything...just nuts and bolts..

Anyone know if the Monroe upper strut mounts are any better or worse than like the Raybestos or the KYB's?

I'd go with the kyb's over the other said brands, personally because i've only heard of good things from kyb from acuras to vw..
