08+ Ralliart / Evo front nose overlay?

So I swore I wouldn't try to make my GTS look like an Evo...in fact, up until today I thought the holes in the front center of the bumper were ugly as hell. But the more I look at it, the more appealing it becomes.

So my question is...anyone done the Ralliart or Evo front overlay?

The second one is ugly, it does seem to fit right in the picture.
A few people did this on the local TLC forum, it requires you to cut the bumper to fit flush.

I like the R/A grille over the Exo X.

It would be alot cheaper to just cut some holes yourself, just trace some rectangles and cut them out, sand down nice with some water, then prime tape and paint it black, that way you dont have to worry about the adhesive coming off. Thats a lot of money for such a little effect, you might as well put that money towards a body kit. and as for the lip at the bottom, you can always get crafty with come fiberglass bondo. That way its more custom, makes you appreciate your car and hard work more. There, I saved you some money and maybe even a mid life crisis.

no it wont. it will look ugly. i know because i cut them myself before putting the overlay on you can never make it look good. if you do this you will smack yourself in the face, and all of evom will facepalm in disgust. you will be looked at in contempt for the rest of your days driving a lancer.

Damn man, calm down, im sure paying that much money just to get a peice of plastic to put over you bumper and make your lancer look more like an evo makes alot of evom angry too. You pretty much cant win either way. And im sure with a little bit of time and some bondo you could really make it look decent. but why add all that extra weight if your trying to make your car seem fast. Kind of pointless if you ask me.

^who would be mad? we are all mitsu owners and there is no reason to be mad at someone that is paying homage to the evo. you forget also that it wont work because there is a tow hook cover on our bumpers. it doesnt work that way.

The bumper cap will run you $40-80, depending on if you know where to get it. you could go save yourself the 40, and risk messing up your bumper. and your extra weight and trying to look fast argument is invalid. people can do whatever they want to their car, not all exterior mods are aero mods, some are there for show, some are there for go. you are entitled to your own opinion as is everyone else. but it doesnt make sense to say that you shouldnt do something just because it doesnt make the car faster/lighter.

either way, if we did a poll asking evo owners if they are "angry" at lancer owners who decide to put a bumper cap on, im sure thers nobody that would be mad. how many ralliart owners are mad at lancer owners that blacked out their bumper and put a chrome surround on their grill? none. thats how many.

Pay homage? I dont know where your from but that wouldn't fly to well where I live. My first car was a V6 Mustang and if i even thought of throwing on some GT or Shelby parts I would get bashed on a daily basis. My boys got Barretta rims on his fox body and I let him have it every day just cause it doesnt belong. I dont care what you have to say about homage, it just doesnt fly.

And I dont think you understand what im trying to say. I know people paint their bumpers, not to look more like and X or a RA, it's cause it looks sexy. But they paint them cause it's the cheap way out, othere wise everyone would be buying EvoX bumpers and throwing them on. So thats all I was saying is instead of buying this peice, just go the cheap route and do it yourself. Why not spend some time and effort into your own car, makes you appreciate it more. I would say that custom jobs are more of an eye catcher then eveyday bolt ons.

As for the tow hook I dont think it would be a big problem, there is probably a way around it. When you cut your holes to throw your cheap peice of plastic on did you have to cut through the tow hook cover or no, and if you did then whats the big deal, he would be in the same boat you are. Im sure if you made the tow hook cover your starting point and made the holes that big in size it would still look nice. it doesnt have to be to EvoX specs. Im sorry but I dont see the point in making your car look just like an evo if you cant make it as fast as an evo. I would rather spend time making it good looking Lancer then a wanna be Evo. but thats just me, and I guess I must be out of my flippin mind to think that.

I dont see what the big deal is and why your whining about it. Are you upset that you spent all that money to throw this on your ride and now your finding out there are cheaper ways of doing it. Could have saved that money and got yourself and EvoX badge, after all, your just paying homage right? You said that cutting the holes and leaving it like that would make EvoM members slap you across the face. so your saying that the member of EvoM would laugh and moch you for trying to do something custom. Plus if it happen to not work out, you could give up and get the plastic peice to go over it anyway. and it really wouldn't have been a big deal, just like this whole situation. I seriously dont see the big deal on trying something custom on your car instead of being the guy that follows everyone else. Gotta love that creativity. Can't believe you bought a $100 peice of plastic. Just for looks. Joke.

dont say im whining, because im not. if you have any good examples to prove your point, show me some pics of ppl that actually cut the holes into their bumper and made it look good. if you can show me ONE good example, i will accept your point and admit i was wrong to debate with you (who knew the internet was such serious business?), until then, OP has already put up two good examples of alternatives to buying a new bumper.

u mad?

why would you say "u mad?" Get with the times, and you should actually have a comeback or something mean to say before it that would actually make sense to say it. otherwise it's misleading. and i dont have any examples cause i wouldnt do it to my car, not cause i cant, but because it's completely pointless for those holes to be there on our cars. Why would anyone put holes there, seriously, just for looks, kind of going a bit far if you ask me. All the lancers i ride with would laugh at it, plastic cover or not. If i ever do decide to make my car into a wanna be ill be sure to take some pics and show you. And if you really think this is serious business you need to get out more. Your the one that bashed my idea, dont forget, all cause you couldn't help but to put your two cents in such a negative way is why this is such "serious business". but I had fun and i think im done.

Both of those cars look silly. I kind of regret buying a lancer sometimes. Some lancer owners have bad taste, as do civic owners. SIMPLY YUCK.

Just paint the god damn thing already....
