WW 09 GTS Wheel, Tire, Drop

Well it’s been a while since I’ve posted on here, but I thought id share.

As winter is coming up for those in the Snow Belt and north it’s time to start getting the snow tires ready to get thrown in rotation. That means new wheels for some!!! Yay!

So the trickle effect goes into place and I thought I’d share my latest venture on the daily driver, 09 Lancer GTS

Wheels: stock x enkeis
Tires: Yokohama advan envigor w 245/40/18 ($480 Mr. Tire)
Drop: tein s-tech ($225 autocityimports)
Total cost of project: $705 & 2 hours including clean up and photos

So I got tired of being the only guy at work rockin the "Baja 4x4" look with the lancer. I hopped on aci and picked up some teins at a good price. Installation was simple, took about 1.5 hours (had a lift n pneumatics mind you) and I could not be happier. My neighbor is a store manager for Mr. Tire so he got me a good deal on some GREAT tires. I opted for the road hazard as I was a little weary about rubbing, better safe than sorry right?

Any who... after all was said and done I am super happy with the results. drop is perfect, ride quality has deteriorated ALOT more than I had anticipated, but is still comfortable for my commuting needs (~5mi daily, & two ~120mi trips on tues & thurs) and the beefier tires also help with absorbing imperfections in my local Pennsylvanian roads (they suck). Handling is excellent, and with the rear end loaded with weight I only rub slightly when turning hard at speed (off ramps) or when I hit a nice bump (intentionally of course)

I plan to roll the rear fenders slightly, just angle them up a bit to give me an extra few mm's as I have already pulled them out ~5mm. front fenders clear with no problems at all, even when I slam the car as careful as possible over a nice bump. No rubbing at full lock or any other circumstances I could think of.

These wheels also fit 100% flush to the body of the GTS which is what makes this an amazing project. the fronts stick out ~1cm from the body which looks badass, and prior to me pulling the rears they stuck out about the same, now they only hang out ~5mm and tuck in just enough when compressed.

Personal preference will lead to a "gunmetal" DIY spray finish (the $5 can of rim paint deal) mainly so I don’t have to worry about keeping these guys clean, and to give some nice contrast with the whole white n black deal. I know it’s a Honda, but I’m aiming for a shade or so darker than these guys

Well without further ado, enjoy the near final product. I couldn’t be happier and I HIGHLY recommend this route to anyone contemplating an inexpensive way to get that "euro" or "vip" or "flush" look.
