AWD . but i dont see the point of this car.... it has to be slower than the EVO ( which is slow as it is) but more expensive than the lancer GTS (which is over priced as is) soooo..? how does that work.?

It'll be like the WRX to the STi. But I read in another thread on here that a member was training at a Mitsu facility and pt-blank asked about it. The Mitsu rep said AWD & turbo...this is according to what I read now, not 100% fact just here-say.

Every Mitsu "insider" we've heard from (including a friend of the two guys driving the car in the spyshot, she's local to me), as well as US and international magazines, have said it will be AWD turbo. It's meant to compete directly with the WRX. It'll be based off the 4B12 engine (2.4 liter) with turbo, and the AWD setup from the Evo IX RS. Just a basic AWD system, no AYC or any fancy stuff like that. It'll also be on the GTS body, so no Evo widebody. I'm not expecting to hear anything official on it from Mitsu until late winter, unless they decide to unveil it at the NAIAS in January in Detroit.
As for not seeing the diff in the pictures, it's impossible to tell in those pics if what we see hanging down is a diff, or the muffler. If it's the muffler, it's easily large enough to hide the diff.
Edit: Here, look for yourselves. It looks like there's the shadow of a diff, but you really can't tell.

If anything, MazdaSpeed3 is an Evo/Sti wannabe, Mazda doesn't even have a sophisticated AWD system, so they released a FWD car that oversteers like crazy.
Yeah, Evo X is one slow car, 0-60 speed at around 5 secs with a 5-speed tranny, then there will be the SST tranny that will offer sub 5 sec. performance once fully optimized. And the GTS starts at $18200, and it's so overpriced that Mitsubishi actually couldn't keep up with the production of them for the US market ( http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/04/d...hi-lancer-gts/ ) and a lot of Mitsu dealers put mark-ups on GTS trim and people still buy them.
Anyway, I see the 2.4l turbo AWD Ralliart to start at somewhere between $23-24K for a BASE 5-speed.
