$27k US Base Price per Autoweek per Mitsu

http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl...THISWEEKSISSUE

If the dollar doesn't tank against the yen. I reckon they'll keep buying our T-Bills to make sure that doesn't happen, but you never know. With the price of USD-denominated oil continuing to climb, the pressure might get to be too much and the Japanese might have to let prices climb even if it means losing a little market share.

Still hope they see the value of throwing some decent tires and brakes on b/f the US launch.

Well, with all the crap that happened in the last years, no surprise we are going in a recession. It's not the best time to buy cars.

The bubble will burst, but high gas prices come from the fact that more countries are industrializing and buying more cars. It used to be simple that countries like us would get all the oil but now that China is easing up a little with the communism and countries like india are buying more cars there is more of a demand for oil there than there ever has been. Thus, more countries bidding on the barrels to buy to supply their country means more competition and paying higher prices to ensure we outbid people for oil.

Besides the point, 27 grand is not too bad of a price considering the weakening of the dollar. If they somehow found a way to get this to be 25 grand then it would sell like hotcakes.

You know theres a thread where i was laughed at when i said "The Economy is screwed and cars arent going to go anywhere fast"

Anyhow, yeah if it were 25k base, that would put at at 27-28k with a package, and i'd be good to go! im sure one of the dealers on here will offer a base model for 25k though (one of them is selling GSR base for 29.9). Lets keep our fingers crossed.

i agree, maybe for the first month or two the dealers will try and get a slight premium n then for the next like two months or so they will sell for their msrp and then if sales are going nowhere then they will begin offering some great deals because they need to find some way to get people to buy it. I personally love the car and want one but because of college and such it won't be for a while.

Dont care about the base price. Do I care about wider tires? Hell yeah!
But I believe is just wishful thinking for this first model year.

wider tires would be nice.

im going to try to put 19x9.5 or 19x9 on a GTS and see if it has any rubbing issues.. no one has told me that they dont think it would work.. but its skeptical..

i think the GTS and RA have the same body if im correct

Look here and read this post.

There's no way you're going to get 9 inch wide wheels let alone 9.5 to fit properly without a lot of body and fender work. I think 8 inch wide wheels are about the max.

theres a guy on here with 8 inch wheels on a black lancer..and he has no rubbing issues at all..i would think 9 would be the max..

originally i wouldnt get them but im getting the evo x conversion kit and its gonna be a wider so i dont really have a choice to go below 8.5..

If base price went down to 25K I would set my eyes on this car more.
