Some questions / thoughts

Alright i intend to pick up one of the new ralliarts loaded. I love the evo MR and would love to own one just don't want to shell out the pennies to do so. The ralliart though having many of the exact same parts should be able to punch out every bit as many ponies as the evo.

some of the differences

Ralliart comes with a single scroll turbo where as the evo x has a twin

evo has ssport mode, where as ralliart does not.

my question is would the maps be interchangeable. if you took a stock evo x turbo changed it out on the ralliart and flashed it would you be able to get the same ammount of ponies out of it.

and the more complciated part. The ralliart's sst tranny has two longer 5th and 6th gears how much of a problem would this present if you used the same flash. I am wondering if you can flash the tranny's ecu and the main ecu to enable ssport mode and regain the evo like performance.

has anybody else thought about this? i am not sure how doable it is but it sounds like you should be able to do it. the only real big obsticle i can think of is how the tranny ecu is programmed to interface with the main ecu for shifting. ssport mode is setup to keep the engine rpm at 4500 or so and if 5th and 6th are longer gears would it mess anything up?

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get 60 extra hp out of it.

From what I've read, you wouldn't really want to use S-Sport on the street anyhow.

evo has ssport mode, where as ralliart does not.
If you want SSport mode spend the extra 10k for the MR, you're playing with fire with the TC-SST tranny. It is a non-serviceable part and if u mess with the ecu/maps Mitsu will not warranty the inevitable hole u will punch in it trying to turn it into an Evo.

Ralliart comes with a single scroll turbo where as the evo x has a twin
There are a sh*t ton more differences than that, with most being the ones mitsu doesn't tell you about that you cannot see. From the ground up the Evo and the Ralliart are built as DIFFERENT cars. Even Mitsu itself says the Rallart is more of a modded GTS than a detuned Evo. If u really want Evo-like performance, just pick up a slightly used Evo X GSR or wait for the 2008's to drop even more when the 2009's come out. Be smart and go out for stock functionality and just drive it with the peace of mind of having an intact warranty [for as long as you can] like I do.

Don't be retarded like this guy and still get smoked at laughed at by real Evo's all day long.

Your asking a lot of questions (and might receive a lot of uninformed answers) on a car that isn't out yet.
Be patient and take everything you hear with a grain of salt until someone who knows what their talking about (i.e: a respected tuning shop that has had a full Ralliart production car to work on) can give you an informed answer.

i appreciate all the comments and thoughts. i don't plan on pushing it and trying to race it or anything. i was just wanting it to get back up to 300 or so. i realize there are many differences but the differences in motor as said by mitsu so far was just some piping and single scroll. the tc-sst can handle about 350 hp or so atm and i don't plan on getting even close as i said earlier. i was just trying to see interest and ideas. i just registered here and i'm also using this as a gague to the community here. i'm really excited about the car atm as i would never use the evo as it was designed for, however i do like some power and by some i mean enough to get me in trouble but not enough to squirt out sideways while going about 50 mph and a 1 gear downshift (ctsv)

If you have the funds, buy the Evo MR. The ride is civilized on the street, and it performs flawlessly on the track. It has all the good stuff, wider track, Brembos, big rims, and the SST is set up to go fast. The RA's SST is not set up to go fast. The jury is out on whether the SST in the RA is indeed the same mechanically as the MR. There is speculation, but no facts.

I'd wait. See what tuners and shops are achieving with x bolt-ons on the RA, versus y bolt- ons for the MR. I'm sure by the end of the year most answers will be answered, and the asking price will have gone ,as well...

yah i would love to have the new mr but i don't want to spend the pennies. i have a bike and i don't need two vehicles for the same purpose which is why i'm getting rid of the rx8. i needed to switch to something better in the winter and the objective was to lower the payment as i ride my bike when i can. but i cannot give up the power i have found. So while i would love to get the evo i don't really want to spend another 250 a month or whatever on a new car as the one i wanted was about 42 grand

it does have sport mode but not s-sport mode difference is s-sport mode holds the rpm at about 4500 to keep you in the powerband when on the track

As said earlier, playing with the transmission is like playing with fire, you could end up with a kickass barbeque or you could end up burning down your house. There are more differences that just the motor and trying to make a Ralliart perform like an Evo is a massive waste of money, if that is all you want and you can afford to, just buy the evo outright. If you want it as a project though, go for it. You could probably just get a TBE and be at Evo power.

True. But have you driven the MR? The difference between sport mode and supersport mode is night and day. It's pretty intense, and you feel like every inch of hp is being squeezed from the engine. Which is ...

How often would you use SSport mode? Probably as often as never...
