Ralliart Turbo Information
I'd really like to see some pics of this TD04HL-15T/7 when it turns up , just for the record the HL (which is a turbine size/type in the Mitsy turbo world ) is the largest of the the four TD04 family of turbines and its exducer tip height is quite wide .
There is a little known of turbo in the Impreza Rex world that's quite effective on sleeper Rexes . Its called the TD04HL-15T/6 meaning TD04HL turbine + their 15T compressor in a 6cm turbine housing . At a glance it looks virtually identical to the garden variety USDM/ADM WRX TD04L-13T/6 - but internally ...
I searched the net last year looking for info on this rare JDM Rex unit and best I can tell it was OEM on WRX auto wagons with the EJ205 ? engine .
For the record the USDM/ADM Rex TD04L uses the second smallest or "L" turbine in the TD04 range and thats why EJ20's have off idle response and choke early on their hot sides . Very poor choice .
TD04HL's have been used on Volvos and SAABs at times with either 6 or 7 cm turbine housings .
Mitsy also does a twin scroll version for Subie TS EJ20s and it called TD04HLA-19T/8.5 .
From what I remember reading Mitsys 19T compressor wheel is the largest in the TD04 range and pushes more than the 15T .
Stateside Melett is a good site to search for Mitsy turbo specs so if interested look there .
A TD04HL may not be as bad as some people think , a 7cm turbine housing is a step in the right direction and compressor upgrades within the TD04 range are really easy .
Granted it's not a TS Evo set up but you want to think yourselves lucky if the Evo 10 bits do go bolt , not all manufacturers make it that easy .
How much do you want to spend , cheers A .

You are going to need a compressor map to work that one out .
Some of the Subaru boards like NASIOC have links to Mitsy maps but alot depends on the diffuser size and A/R ratio of the compressor housing itself .
I'll see what I can find tomorrow .
Cheers A .

Hi all , in this thred at NASIOC I posted most of what I could find out at the time on the TD04 family of turbines and compressors . My interest was in the rare JDM spec TD04HL-15T/6 , if you go to the first page of that string Soobaviatory kindly posted pics showing the difference between the garden variety TD04L turbine and the much healthier TD04HL one .

That aside the 15T compressor wheel is towards the smaller end of the TD04HL turbines wheel family with 16T , 17T , 18T and 19T all readily available .
Of the top of my heat the 16/17/18T compressors are the same major or OD with the inducer diameter , or trim size , increasing .
Would be so easy to swap in a slightly larger trim compressor and profile machine the compressor housing to suit , externally you'd never know it wasn't std .
I'm getting mixed messages on the 15T wheels capacity , some say 29 lbs/min , some say 450 cfm .
So much depends on how hard bitsafishy tried with the comp cover .
Pics please , cheers A .
