Thumbs down 09 Ralliart passenger interior door handle rattles, anyone else?

this rattling is starting to get on my nerves...it's triggered by a particular frequency and you can hear it at some point either while the engine is revving up and down....I know you all are going to tell me to bring it back to the dealer but I want to see if anyone else has this problem and fixed it themselves...if it just a bolt or something that I need to tighten I rather do it myself then have some mechanic messing around my new car taking things apart carelessly.....plus who knows they might take it out for a joyride as a part of "diagnosis"....what I know right now is when I hear this rattling sound I can just grab onto the handle to stop it....I'm probably going to end up opening the door panel and maybe attach a mass on the inside to dampen the vibration....

Can you pinpoint which door? When I bought my new SRT-4 in 2005 it had a rattle from the rear passenger door that drove me nuts. I finally pulled the door panel off and found that the inside rubber weatherstripping wasn't installed properly from the factory and fell into the door causing the plastic panel to rattle against the glass. Good chance one of the panels/weatherstripping may not be installed correctly but it's easier to troubleshoot when you can pinpoint where it's coming from.

I had a rattle in my door and it was from the rubber track guide vibratng the actually metal track and transmitting that into the door. I know your saying "the rubber track guide" im serious thats what it was. You could have something else making noise but dont overlook anything.

Just take the door panel off ( its very very easy ) and start pecking around. It wont void the warranty ( but dont ever tell them you took the door off ) and you can do so much more than the Mitsu techs cause they just dont give a ****.

The plastic liner that is between the door panel and the metal door just peels back. You can stick it right back on, its resealable.

Tip: if to pick off a little of the black rubber sealant that is between the door panel and the metal door frame you can use that to stick on whatever is making the noise. Its a great sound / vibration killer.

I've got 1200km on mine and no rattles to speak of yet though I'm getting a gear wine in the front diff area that's louder than before any of you evo 9 owners experienced that?? considering its the same drive train.
thanks

thanks for the info....i opened the door panel on my Tiburon many many times so I'm quite familiar with the inner stuff inside the panel....this weekend ill open up that sucker and see what's annoying me...

for the person that asked which door....it;s the passenger side front door....sorry Im used to my 2-door tibby so in my mind a car should only have 2 doors hahaha....I can't pinpoint exactly where tho but like I said if I grab onto the inside handle the rattle would stop....

also do you guys think you can hear the air flow quite loudly right behind where you sit when you're cruising on the highway? I dont know if it's normal but I sorta think the door couldve been sealed a bit tighter....

You are not alone, mine start doing a rattle too this week and its making me crazy! Its also coming from the front passenger or the rear passenger door, Im not sure yet.

Just like you I dont really want to go the dealer for the same reasons as you. This make me sick. This is my first "real" car and my first new car, and I wanted a new car so I wouldnt have problem like this. Its pissing me off. Plus today I putted my winter tires to find out my breaks and hub already started to rust after 2 weeks...

Anyway if you find out whats causing that noise, let me know what it is.

So how do you guys like the 09 RA? I was thinking about getting one but i am having alittle too much fun with mine at the time. Just seeing if it is worth trying to get one or not. Thanx for whatever input you all have.

I know a bunch of body shop guys. They tell me that Mitsu is horrible for under car rust. Live in OHIO so a lot of winter salt. They see 2 year old cars that they can;t even get bumper bolts out due to excessive corrosion.

I got some Corrosion X for my Sequoia and sprayed the entire underside. This is the first time I have used it so I will evaluate how it does over the winter. Took 3 cans for my SUV. I would think you could do the RA with 2. I would NOT use on the brakes (obvious)!!

My buddy has a plane and told me how it is used to prevent rust on airplanes. Including Air Force One and Marine Force One.

In canada rust is a problem with every vehicle manufacturer. Try rubberized undercoating-underbody, rustproof-body. VIncent NT.. Ur brakes rotors r going to rust, because its made of cast iron.. look around every car rotors rust.. hub rust because its exposed metal, try spraying "RUST CHECK"on them every year, to prevent rust...
