i called my local dealerships a few hours ago asking if they had a ralliart in stock.. asnwer was no and then he said they gonna get a white one in december . then my second question was ifthey gonna get more after that cuz i'm looking for a blue one . he said that only 1500 cars were shipped to us and i'm gonna have to wait til next production which is next fall 2009 . what u guys think?

that they were in limited markets.

but i thought he was full of it, too.
so i am not sure nor am i surprised he said it. That is a tactic usually to force you get what they have in inventory.

That's definitely a load of something... the first round of Ralliarts were manufactured in late Summer (August), and the next round seem to come with manufacture dates in October -- here in Canada the official word is that the first round were doled out as a sort of pre-release, while the rest are slated for a regular Nov. 15 release. The US date may be slightly different, but the idea's likely similar.

I know this because they screwed up my order and I'm now buying a 2009 Lancer Ralliart that was manufactured on Oct. 22 (instead of the Aug. 15 one that I ordered) -- both the dealership and Mitsubishi Canada were extremely good about fixing the glitch very quickly, but now I'm stuck driving a lender car (2009 Galant, base model, I think) for six weeks or so... which will definitely make me appreciate the (premium) Ralliart even more (I recommend the Galant heartily as a boring family car... I'm sure the dealership means well, and it does get me to work and back comfortably enough).

Here's hoping that the second round has some minor fixes to whatever minor problems they spotted in the first round... at least that would make the wait worthwhile

Well this is a disappointment. These so-called dealerships want to work for ya, but they can't get shipment. When they get shipment, they want to screw the loyal customers, because they know a few only exist in certain areas. I just want a rally red, recaro package w/ nav out the door be $27k. Do not pre-order or put deposits, originally I was told 21st of November would be next shipment.

Yes -- most owners/operators are fairly straight with customers, on the rare occasion where they deign to wander out of their office -- this usually happens when someone at the dealership or perhaps at the auto manufacturer has screwed up so seriously that some honesty is absolutely necessary to keep a sale.

Best way to control the level of crap is to walk in with a price and then walk away (do your research up front, make what you consider to be a fair offer). No need to bargain in North America in 2008, just lay your cards on the table and leave them to decide whether to sell to you. Corollary: never buy a car off the dealer's lot or any other dealer's lot, unless you're buying used -- that's all the opening a good salesperson needs.

 

$27K OTD is impossible. The base ralliarts start at $27,165

The recaro pkg is $2700
The navi is $2000

Plus tax, tags, title.
