Since the 09 RA has the twin-clutch transmission, is there anyway to get a good launch? or do we just have to suck it up for those 2-3 secs until it kicks in.
also is that why our 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times are kinda slacking in terms of being on par with the ms3?

Yes, the Ralliart was clearly made for driving, not racing off the line. The Evo X MR is much better for that, and for racing in general. I'm not sure where you get 2-3 seconds, though -- it's not that bad.

Launch control comes at a heavy price.

I assume you mean wear and tear on the transmission, and not the $10k for an MR instead of a Ralliart?

Yeah, it's fun for a while but the novelty wears off quickly when things start to make noises they shouldn't.

Could you please describe said noises. I'm assuming you own either a Ralliart or MR and have heard these 'noises'.

Careful there -- the WRX makes slightly less noise than the Ralliart (and the MR), and you definitely don't want to go there :-)

Since he was talking about the sounds of power components breaking down, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that even Evo X MR owners probably haven't had time to hear those kind of noises yet. The Ralliart hasn't been out long enough to hear abuse noises, unless someone got a real lemon, I guess.

I heard most GT-R drivers have been breaking their trannies lately by too much launch-control abuse... It has become their hobby lol.

Wouldn't wanna follow the same path... IMO

So much so that www.edmunds.com reported that the 2010 GTR will no longer have launch control.

Launch any car and see what noises it makes. Are you willing to buy a new transmission? Only launch if you can afford the repercussions.

What makes this especially humorous is that everyone was pointing to the GTR as proof that the TC-SST can take a lot of abuse. Well I guess it actually can't or at least it can't take stupid abuse.

Like you pointed out previously, they are all different, meaning twin-clutch transmissions. The Bugatti has a TC and LC and it handled my multiple acceleration runs just fine as well as the other magazines that had tested the same car before us.

I really don't think it has to do with the transmission as much as the fact that you are launching an all-wheel drive vehicle. No matter which transmission you have it's hard on the drivetrain components, transmission included. You'd have just as many failures or at the very least a bunch of burned clutches with a non-automated manual.

If it was a rear drive vehicle we would likely not be seeing this since the tires would provide the slip and hence would not be as hard on the drivetrain. But what do I know, huh?

Well the Bugatti is also a million dollar supercar, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the transmission alone is worth 100000$. I also don't know of anyone that bags the **** out of a Veyron and expects it to be flawless, it's still a supercar after all.
I agree on the AWD part, same reason why Evos used to blow clutches and transfer cases while the STI likes to snap axles.
