Oil Temp.

I just picked up my RA today, and i'm very excited. I was wondering where could I find info such as Oil Temp.

A few misc. questions as well:
how do i pause a song?
how do i add to the music drive?

pause: I just push PWR -- switches to the Nav screen automatically -- push PWR again and the music restarts. Don't be fooled into thinking that PWR actually turns the unit off (it doesn't). Incidentally, the bluetooth automatically cuts out the audio the moment you enter the voice menu system (or pick up an incoming call), and the Nav voice automatically lowers the volume while it's talking.

music: just insert an old-fashioned CD, since apparently it won't automatically download mp3's off of CDs/DVDs (though I haven't tried that, since I mostly just use my iPod).

[let me know if you find oil temp. as a number -- you can get a temperature bar indicator by simply pushing INFO repeatedly on the dash -- personally I'd also like to see tire pressures as numbers, rather than just waiting for a generic warning that doesn't even indicate which tire has problems -- why does Mitsubishi keep all the sensor data from us?]

there most likely is no oil temperature sensor.

there is ( obviously ) an oil pressure sensor.

there is a coolant temperature sensor , but not a coolant pressure sensor.

there can only be so maney sensors on the car for cost reasons.

the "factory" decides what you need to know !

a oil temp sensor could be easily added if you want. you would have a separate gauge to read though.

well thanks aestival for the oil temp bar.. I was looking through the nav for this. so aesitval you're from canada, how long do you idle the car before getting it to go on a cold start in winter.

The TPMS doesn't tell you which tire has a problem? That seems like a major oversight

I idle the car for a minute or two, unless I need to defrost the interior of the car (such as after a quick deep-freeze) -- the Ralliart runs fine in cold weather, and with 5w30 oil, it doesn't have to warm up much before there are zero issues with the engine. When it's really cold, I'd say make that two minutes plus however long it takes for the engine to settle down, because it's likely to sound a bit rough on starting.

The main cold-weather issue with the Ralliart seems to be accumulated ice in the wheel wells -- I've had my tires rub (ice) a few times, but then this has been a freakishly cold winter here.

Thats happened to me at least 3 or 4 times now this winter and its annoying. I sometimes get some wheel shudder at speeds over a 100kms because of this. ( a quick hand spray wash fixes this..as long as the water does not refreez again) Also I have mobile 1 synthetic in there and it runs very well. What I find with the cold weather is that the AWD system and the SST has to warm up a bit with a little running it acts a bit sluggish ( kind of like an automatic thats moving slowly)
and after that its fine.

What are you spraying with? Car wash, or maybe windshield-washer fluid? Sounds like a really good idea (and cheaper than the $10 carwashes that I've been using myself -- though frequent carwashes do keep the car looking nice, even in winter ). I think next year I'll try spraying Fluid Film inside the wheel wells, to make it much harder for ice to stick.

I get the AWD/SST sluggishness thing too, especially when it's bitterly cold (-30 degC this winter, for example), but that only lasts a minute or two into driving, and I just try to keep the RPM low until it subsides.

Since someone posted up about wheelwell ice and snow causing ASC problems, I've made an extra effort to keep wheel wells clean and have had no issues, I just spend more time washing the car now.....

Actually at the hand car wash there is a wax setting on the washer. Its has a mix of water and some added waxes (usually used for the car body after soap and water). It actually works a bit better for me and its a good idea to do when you think you may have some cold weather or lots " O" snow coming up. Its just an idea, but what ever works. ( Just be sure not to directly spary the calipers and Disc with a direct force of water, its not really good over the long run)
