Problem Starter

Yesterday, which was a normal day. High temperature of 45 or so, when i got off work my ralliart wouldnt start. i had to try 3 times for it to start and i dont know why. didnt leave any lights on.. no electronics.. nothing. This is the third time it has done this. anybody else experience this or have any solution.

Also have noticed minor- things like my car doesnt always sense my key right away in my poket or doesnt lock when i hit the button walking away from my car

This is a big deal because i plan to start upgrading my car asap and i dont want to void my warranty be4 something goes wrong....

are you suppose to let your car cool down before you shut it off?

didnt think you had to cool it down before you shut it off. does the car not start as in the key wont turn? or does it just not start? other people have been having starter problems in the cold, but i havent read anything on warm temperature. i would double check and make sure nothing is left on, even the littlest thing. if that doesnt work out i would bring it to your dealer..

Ive read about the cold temperature starts but mine has started when it was 5 degrees F many times.. so i dont think thats what is affecting it

the key turns but it just wont start. if its no lights or electronics i cant figure out what could be causing it

hmm thats pretty wierd. i was thinking maybe your fast key transmitter wasnt working, but it has to be if the key is turning... maybe try starting it with the manual key itself. i know it sounds stupid but that would definately rule out a fastkey problem. i have no idea what else it would be...

unless you ran out of gas, but i know your not that dumb lol.

when this happens and you first turn the key to the "on" posistion do you get any display on the instument panel ?

...after the "on" posistion and then turning the key to "start" posistion do you hear the starter motor and the engine does not fire ?

do you hear any "click-click click" of the fuel pump/injectors priming ?

Only once.. on a totally different day i was at sheetz, when my key was laying in the cup holder did it say "confirm key location"... i had it in park and my sister was in sheetz.. then it went away after 15 seconds or so.

The engine does not fire.. and when it finally does it kind "puts" until it finally gets enough power/gas to sound normal (takes 1 or 2 seconds)

I have this same problem every once in awhile. It only happens when its around 45 degrees or so(at lower temps, single digits or below, the engine turns over extremely rough - but that's just cause of everything being extremely cold). This has also happened 3 or 4 times already. Don't know what the cause is. I can definitely hear the starter motor going, but the engine doesn't fire. If it does, it takes awhile to fire, but putters for a second or so like you said. Even with this issue, the engine still turns over after 1 or 2 attempts...

OK i had the same problem once with RA also.

some (my self included) had/have hard start problems with our GTS's.

What the solution is : when you get the "long crank" problem the first time...

....turn the key to off posistion.
push accelerator pedal to the floor for a second or two.
release the accelerator . turn key to on posistion for a second.
then turn key to start posistion. starter will crank and engine will fire.

i do not know why this works. but it has worked for me and several others.

I think I saw it in the manual somewhere. I have had two long cranks with mine. One with maunal start and one with the Mits remote start. Both times it fired up during the long crank. All I did was touch the gas pedal slightly (on the manual one).
