My Timeslip

I went to the track today and for my best run without powerbraking I ran a 14.6.

I couldnt break the 14.7 -14.6 mark for the longest time ( 5 tries)
Granted im not a super pro driver, it was only my first time at the track.
Tranny is a real killer for us 0-20mph.

I decided on my last run to give it a moderate power-brake launch from 3k-3.5kish.
and I maganged to get 14.1

overall I guess it was ok. considering I have the z-chip.
I know with a better driver, or with more practice, I can break into the 13's

Btw: vids coming soon. my buddy has the cam. and that timeslip was against the new v6 eclipse

remember, the ralliart is not a 1/4 type of car due to the tranny. The ralliart is street fast/ track quick but not drag ready.

But its great to see some official timeslips that are respectful.

edit: though that tranny shifts quick as... well respectful

It's disappointing to hear about how sluggish this trans is off the line, especially considering that the GTI's DSG trans has a launch control mode which works very well. They've basically killed half the point of having AWD. I'm not just talking about 1/4 mile either, there's nothing more annoying than trying to pull out in traffic and having your car just sit there for a second when you nail it. That was one of the things I hated about my old WRX.

It's just the clutch packs trying be make the car as smooth as possible. Right now we can not adjust the force in which the clutches engage so the ability to launch is not there. But at least we do know that it can be done (MR) and will be done in the not so distant future.

Were you paddle shifting or just straight D (shift lever in Drive)? If you were paddle shifting, did you shift at say 5500rpm or let it hit redline?

yeah, Sport mode shifts up way too fast; but i kind of like it, its like being in a MR (SST duh!)

Nice numbers. 14.1 in the quarter mile!? not bad at all seeing as our Rallis are a bit porkish and lag from start :S
