2009 RA or Genesis Coup
I don't think you'll be unhappy with either of them IMO.
The Gensis is not sexy. Looks like a melting terd. The RA has defined lines and looks stealth. I can see it now, there are going to be some seriously riced out genesis ghetto blasters with coffee can exhausts and pink rims.
My Opinion.
My Opinion.
Just for some added input on the Gen Coupe.
The block is similar but it is only a 2 bolt main. There are no forged internals like the Mitsu motors. The webbing does not seem to be as stout. Testing on the 2.0t has already revealed the injectors are maxed out with little room for more power without an immediate upgrade. The turbo is small, very small. The IC is a joke, smaller than a pack of cigarettes in height. The rear end has a TORSEN unit and will be more than capable of holding whatever you can throw at it. The 5 speed auto in the 2.0t is a AISIN unit and is junk. The 6 speed is much better but has been criticized for being rubbery. The clutch is also somewhat of a concern. The trans itself should be fine. The ZF in the 3.8 is more than adequate to hold some pretty large power.
As far as the interior. It is on par with the RA (I think the Coupe is more polished), and I actually think the Gen Coupe seats are better. I think the Gen Coupe looks way more sports oriented than the RA. Some won't like the droopy rear window, but I think it is unique. The front grin is terrible and the only styling mistake IMO. (keep in mind they basically copied the Z car and the G37) The front end of the RA is better by far. The track package on the 2.0t gets you 19" wheels and Brembo brakes. The track editions are the ONLY cars other than the 2.0t R spec to get LSD. The base and premium cars do not have LSD and that IMO is a HUGE mistake especially for those driving year round and living in the North.
The 3.8 has decent numbers but not for the price. You can get a premium or track 3.8 for the same price as the RA. The only think you really give up is two doors and two more drive wheels. There is adequate room in the back seat of the Gen Coupe but head room is limited and if you put anyone in the back seat over 5'10" you better make sure they have a good chiropractor as they will be smashing into the roof on any hard bump. If you need to haul more people the RA is way better and the trunk will have more room as well.
FYI, Bushcur will be working on a 2.0t Gen Coupe as Jarrod is due to get one this week. It will be interesting to see what type of power they make. As noted earlier in this thread, a turbo swap (assume injectors also) made close to 375WHP so I do believe it will make more power than the RA due to the SST trans.
Also, as noted there is going to be MONSTER tuner support for the car. AMS is on board also and has already begun testing and protyping. I believe they were the ones to find the limits of the injectors.

so i think u should test drive both of them read up on them and buy ur favorite. i dont think u could go wrong buying either one.. hope ur surgery goes well
I think the gen coupe will reach limitations first in its block design before the transmission gives way. Not to mention this is Hyundais first attempt at building a rear-wheel oriented transmission so let's see if it can handle 2-3 times is stock output. But everything is speculation until this thing gets tested. And i do agree that this car will get MONSTER aftermarket support, in fact i'm quite jealous of that already.
I can see a lot of girls wanting to buy this car too.

Honestly i don't think so. Unless they into cars i can't see it happening as the car looks to sports not cute or crap like the TC does.
I just find it cute how hyundai tries to liken the gen coupe to an infinity g37 over a 370Z.
I find the genesis interior pretty cheesy, and think that overall, the mitsu's interior is better. For the upper range V6 model, I don't think it's the bargain many people were expecting. Actually, I think I remember them saying they were going to make it the cheapest 300HP car in america. If I'm not mistaking, a mustang GT is cheaper, and a V6 camaro is cheaper still.
Now the track package for the gen coupe is where it's at.
