MotorWeek Road Test - 2009 Ralliart

This is a decent video with good coverage for the 2009 RA, but I have one question after watching.......they hit 0 to 60 in 5.4 seconds.......does that sound right?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f298O...eature=related

Most other car magazines/online media seem to hit low to mid 6's when doing 0 to 60 runs.....is it possible the old farts at MotorWeek just know how to launch the 2009 RA better? LOL!

Thanks for any "real life" input!

the 1 second difference depends whether you learn to hard-launch the car; that foot brake thing that's going on around the forums

Edmunds did 6.6 in their first test, their second test gave them a 5.8 since they found out how to launch the car thereafter

I can't claim good real life launches, but when I was researching the mazdaspeed6 a few years ago, the 0-60 numbers were distributed from about 5.3 to 6.3 s (if i remember correctly). Weather conditions had a big impact - with better numbers at low - but not freezing - temperatures.

Yes that makes more sense. Also, as a reference MotorWeek hit 5.0 on their 0 to 60 run in the new 2009 WRX (with MT), so the 5.4 number did not seem to be out of line to me. The more I look at the RA capabilities, it has a lot of potential to build off pretty good stock numbers for those into tuning.

AMS has a ralliart with bolt-ons and a base flash, doing 12.9 to the quarter mile; and 268 horses to the wheels plus 300 ftlb TQ

Be Impressed my friend!
