Stock tire replacement advice
Okay, so I basically know squat about tires. I have heard a lot of critical comments about the stock RA tires.
I will be replacing my tires eventually, and I'm not sure which route to go. Discount tires shows 4 tires rated as "best":
Goodyear Eagle GT ($140)
Yokohama ADVAN Sport ($204)
Pirelli P-Zero Rosso ($249)
Pirelli P-Zero System ($299)
I will be sticking with the stock rims, as I plan to do a trade-in with it in 2 years. I have also faced the fact that I will need to drop about $1,000 to replace my tires.
So does anyone know if the Pirelli's are worth the extra money over the Yokohama's? Will they last more than 10,000 miles? The dealership told me the stock Yoko's will need to be replaced around 10K. that means about 1 year of road time for me. So if I replace them at the one year mark and I trade in at the 2 year mark, will they need replacing again? The tires listed above are warrantied to 35K and 40K?!?! So why are the stock Yoko's only getting 10K?
Advice?

So you're trading your car in, but wanna buy new tires?
I'm kinda confused. well if you're just running your RA as a daily driver no serious driving i would say stockers are just fine and replace with some cheapies.

I'm kinda confused.
March 2009-Bought car brand new
March 2010-Tires will need to be replaced
Early 2011-Trade in car for Evo
My concern is that if I replace the tires with stock Yoko's they will be going out around the time I trade-in. I don't want the dealership low balling me because tires have low tread, etc.
I would rather put on a set of good tires, that last more than 10,000 miles and not have to worry about them when it come time to get rid of the car.
Basically, I am looking for a tire that has a good balance of life and performance, if I pay an extra $50-$100 per tire then so be it. I want tires that will perform well and last longer than 10,000 miles.
If you are going to trade it in anyways just get something cheap thatll last a year? I dont see what the issue is if you plan to sell it. It would be different if you were keeping it and needed special tires for hard driving of some kind.

I say good year eagles are the best bang for the buck performance tires.
It all depends on what you want in a tire. Performance level, tread life, seasonal use, tread noise, etc. See below for Tire Rack's decision guide, it's handy.

I'd get BF Goodrich G-force T/A KDW 2 in 235/40/18 from tirerack, theyre about 176 each and are one of the best tires i've used. The grip is amazing, tad noisy but nothing unbearable plus they are one of the best looking tires.
