Post Oil filter database for Lancer Ralliart

http://clubralliart.com/showthread.php?t=158

planning on doing an oil change soon, been looking around for oil filter part#'s and I figured I should share the info. Please help me expand this database if you know of some brands that I didnt list.

OEM:
Factory Install filter: MD35600
filter purchased from dealer: MZ690116

Need to be confirmed, this info was posted by someone else here:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/20...-question.html

EDIT: The above are Evo X oil filters. The MD one that came with our cars are JDM and the MZ is USDM which has a less beefy o-ring seal. Not sure if they have different oil filter (diff part#) for the Ralliarts but I doubt it. More info here:

So my first oil change the OEM filter was not the same diameter as the FRAM one i replaced it with - but it fit okay (oil seal lined up/threaded on). Fram was wider/shorter the OEM one was taller and narrower...

I just came back from the dealer by my work at lunch to pick up an OEM oil filter for my first oil change. MZ690116 is what they sold me. they had a buy 3 get one 1 free special on them so they ended up being under $4 a piece.

anyone use the magnets that go on the outside of the Filters? Are they worth the $40?

Based on the fact that our engine block is aluminum, I'd say no, they won't work...

Maybe particles from the piston's rings or valves could get caught...but I don't think this amount to a lot.

I'm no mechanic, but this sounds logical to me, just my 2 cents!

The cylinder sleeves are cast iron, and then the crank bearings are most likely hardened steel (or something that's bound to be made from a ferrous material) So, there would still be some value to the magnetic drain plug...

If pieces of your block are falling apart, a magnet on your oil filter won't be the first thing to alert you of it.

All true. A magnetic oil (chip-detector) drain plug is 'best'. I want to know if there is a sudden increase in particulate matter.

K&n makes it easier with the head on it...easier to get off and tighten...that's why I use them.

Look on the outside of the filter box. Most filters tell you what % of contaminents that they're capable of filtering out. Pick the ones with the highest % since they're the best quality filters.

I just swaped from a K&N oil filter to a Mobil 1. I use Mobil 1 Oil, might as well use their filter as well. I'll let you know how it goes. Went on like a champ no issues there. I'm sure it filters stuff to. Anyone try the HKS Purple filter? looks expensive for a oil filter...
