New rims for '09 RA

Hey guys, i have questions regarding how to choose wheels and such.

According to my owner's manual, these are my wheel specs:

wheel: 18x7JJ
PCD: 4.5 in (114.3mm)
offset: 1.81 in (46 mm)

tire: 215/45R18 89W

what is 18x7JJ? is that 7 or 7.5??? Can i use something wider by .5 or 1 inch? Ive heard of stretching the tire to fit but wouldnt that damage the tire?
oh and I do not want rubbing whatsoever.
also, i'm planning to lower the car (prolly after changing the rims). so plz take that into account...

Thanks!

you can use the OEM tire up to 8inch width. I have the Dunlops and from their website it says 7-8inch width. So pushing it further wouldn't be safe.

18x7 is an 18x7 wheel. I've never been able to figure out what the JJ means, but it really isn't important.

My car has 18x8 45mm offset wheels and they fit fine. Ive heard of people using 8.5 wide but that there can be issues.

The JJ is the "DOT-Approved"-like stamp for Japan.
