Maximizing Fuel Economy?

I understand this may sound a bit ridiculous to ask this about a performance car, but does anyone have any good tips for driving to maximize fuel economy in an RA? There are times when I want to drive hard, but sometimes I just want to save fuel. I'm wondering at what rpms I should be shifting at to get the best possible mpg.

I would think shift manual and shift very early before getting into boost.

Go really really fast... and then throw it in neutral and roll all the way to where you want to go.

I thought boost would help fuel economy? Isn't that what BMW claims on their new twin-turbo engines?

More air = more fuel.

I found 6th gear at 2k rpm yeilds the best MPG. Our cars aren't very fuel efficent.

When Cobb get around to getting maps for our cars they will likely have a fuel economy map that lowers the boost and improves mileage (They have one for the EVO X).

Also just hit the info button on the car till you get the MPG bar graph and watch it while you drive. You'd be surprised how even slight throttle movements drops your mileage.

leave the car in Normal Auto mode. If you are in Normal manual mode you should shift at 2400K rpms. Boost starts to kick in at around 2500K.

i just drove my car from long beach to tehachapi and back, I drove probably 80 to 90mph around 3500rpm the whole way and got max fuel economy (around 260 miles on the tank) so i would believe that driving hard on it isnt too bad on the gas tank

It does. That's why you see VW putting turbos on passats @ 3psi haha. I still think it's kind of stupid though since you have to spend more money on premium fuel...

That's terrible, thats about 20 MPG. I get 24-25 on the highway.

lol i found driving on the highway sticking it on cruise-control after i hit 6th gear around 3k rpm's (should roughly be your local speedlimit/65mhp)

that's my 2 cents. and 260miles is good for a full tank ~ 24mpg (at least for me its good)
