2009 Galant RalliArt
It is true that the Galant Ralliart is a great bargain right now. One can be had for over $10K off MSRP easy. Tell me if Honda or Toyota currently gives that much discount on their accords and camrys.

Yeah, I've only ever seen one G-RA on the road and it had a dealer plate. I imagine the argument could be made that a Altima SE-R or loaded V6 Accord is a better car, but not if you could get the Mitsu for thousands less which is most likely.
As far as this new car, Mitsu needs to jump up with some new tech. They are developing new clean diesel four cylinders 4NXX series and that's what the show car has along with the SST. They should offer both that and a version of the Outlander's V6 for traditionalists and put Honda and Toyota in check.
The hold up, I believe is whether or not the bosses in Japan will let Normal, IL build the car as they have been building American only Galants for the past fourteen or so years. This new Galant is very important to the companies future and I think they are trying to decide if Normal is good enough to build it or not.

The car has a lot of Audi and Mercedes influence which is cool, I see a lot of Mercedes in the new Accord so much so I confuse C-class with Accords from a distance. And here lately Mitsus show cars have been very close to production models, so we'll see. At least there's also a "Eclipse" style show car so maybe that model will live on. I think the Endeavor is doomed though. This interior is pretty wild, I doubt much of it will get into production.
I saw a craigslist ad from Veracom Mitsubishi (San Francisco area) a month ago for a new 08 Galant Ralliart ($29K MSRP, fully loaded + nav, leather, etc.) under $18K after applicable rebates. If you want a bargain, that's one hell of a package at such a low price.

Yeah, if you just take time to hunt for bargains, there's plenty out there. Especially with brands that have been hit hard with this economy... Mitsu being one of them... combine that with models that don't sell well, Galant being one of them. If I needed a sporty family sedan with a V6 automatic, I'd certainly be jumping on Veracom's offer.
Its good to hear those stories of comparison between the honda's built quality and mitsu's. But again, mitsu is mostly good at making close-to-perfection 4 cyl cars. I don't know much about their V6 engines. But I do know my brother in law bought an 08 galant a month after I got my 08 ES back in january 08.... and that car does NOT come close to my friend's 07 Acura which he just traded in for a Benz C300... but anyways... the 09 Galant looks better though than even the new 09 accord (that one, except for the Coupe, looks like crap)
I would hope this time around, if the Diamante is never to return, that Mitsu not just try to take the budget approach and only make the Galant competitve but also make it available with lots of high end features that you might find only on an Acura or Infiniti. It seems those brands have to tread lightly at times for fear of a Maxima or loaded Accord might step on the toes of a G or TL/TSX. Mitsu wouldn't have to worry about that.
[QUOTE=GPTourer;7125186]I don't think anybody is trying to suggest that the Galant is as nice as a luxury brand (near luxury brand) like Acura. QUOTE]
My bad! I meant ACCORD
Yeah but seems as if the Galant breaking down has a 50% less chances than the Accord... I believe I saw it somewhere involving JD Power & Assoc....

Here in the Philly area at Sunoco we get 4 grades, I think 89, 91, 92 and Ultra Premium at 93 octane. I use the Ultra and Lucas Fuel treatment during every fill up. I noticed a slight increase in gas mileage.
