Help: HID & DRL Question
Okay so today I installed my VisionPro 8000K HID Kit I bought. For the installation I put the bulb in the socket, I plugged that into the wire going to the little box thing that came with the HID Kit and then from that box thing, another wire came out and plugged into the car's factory headlight plug. When my DRL are on, the lights flicker. I tried looking for a quick fix but everyone keeps talking about splicing wires and such and I don't know how to do any of that. I also tried pulling the DRL fuse but that did not work either. What should I do for them not to flicker?? Also, is my set-up okay? I heard a lot of people talking about a Battery relay, but I already hooked these up and I would prefer to keep my current setup because it is also very clean. Also I heard some people say that my kind of setup could make the car go up in flames?? Please, any help would be appreciated.
get outta the vehicule and start to run, that thing will blow up,
But more seriously, just leave your lights in the on position, hid cannot run on two different light output, if i'm not mistaken, the drl and low beam are the same light. Your hid is probaby a 55w, and the drl is probably something lower, unlike the stock bulb which can run these two different output, your hid can't
Search for "hid flicker" there are tons of threads

DRL should be on the highbeam light which should be a seperate bulb. The inside one on my car anyways.
You may have just got a cheap kit or it is faulty. Try hooking the ballist directly to 12V (battery) and see if the flicker goes away. If it doesn't the kit is faulty.
The relay may be necessary to install if the kit works proper when hooked directy to the battery.

DRL on the '09 Lancer is NOT on the high beam light. I see you have a Ralliart, if you turn your car on during the daytime and you look you will see that the lights on the outside are the ones that are on. If the ones on the inside are on, then your Ralliart might be, as you say, "faulty." Anybody else have any ideas for me?
I heard there are some "relays" you can put in the fuse box thats under the hood? Does anyone know about that? What exactly is a "relay" and where would I buy one?

I have real HID projectors, so that is why my inside highbeams run on a reduced pulsed voltage.
DRL run on a reduced voltage which is a pulsed square wave. That is why yours may be flickering. That is why I suggested you hook your ballist directly to the battery.

**If your HID kit came with an extra 9006 Socket cable extension (as mine did), you can solder the capacitor in parallel with this cable INSTEAD of directly to the relay, then install this cable from the factory 9006 harness to the HID remote turn-on lead:
go to post # 29 and start from there. it will work on RAs'..........
Err, today I was driving around and then one of my HID's went out. Then I was driving around later on and I saw that they swapped and now the one that was out is on and the other is out. I got very angry and I just ended up taking the HID kit out and buying a pair of those super expensive Ultra White Lights from Advanced Auto down the street. Thanks for your help anyways everyone.
Since you went with a different alternative, it didn't really solve your HID + DRL problem. For you and other people's sake who are interested in eliminating the HID flicker, check out my sig. Boondoc already referred to my thread.
The DRL Bypass I provide will simply eliminate the DRL's. Therefore, no flickering is present when running HID's. The DRL Bypass w/ Relay Harness is completely Plug & Play and requires no splicing whatsoever with the OEM wiring, thus saving you from any warranty issues and/or headaches.
PM me if you have any other questions.
