Find a used IX or even an VIII and then you'll know what love is.

true. but if hes worried about the insurance on a RA he definitely can't do a IX or VIII.

I'd get a comparison quote between a X, Ralliart and a IX. The price difference for me (6 month premium) between the 2009 ralliart and 2008 Evo MR was $13 a month.

wow. thats awesome. when i quoted for a RA and a evo ix the price was insanely different. the older evos having pretty terrible crash test results, especially no side crash protection and the number of evo thefts make the insurance rough. the X's are probably a lot cheaper to insure though. newer, safer, fewer thefts. when i insured my ralliart they didnt know the ralliart existed yet and gave me a gts price. they later upped it by a few dollars a month once they figured it out.

Maybe he wants a brand new car and doesn't want to worry about what has and has not been messed with and modded. Maybe he like the TC-SST transmission that comes with the car. I know I love my TC-SST. Maybe the OP has driven the VIII's and IX's and still prefers the '09 RA with a softer more comfortable ride. Maybe the OP prefers the looks of the new body style.

I'm not trying to bash anyone here, but I do get a bit tired of hearing this sort of stuff every single time someone says they want a new RA. There are things to love about this car that the older Evo's don't have.

I love the older Evo's, I also accept that they are, in almost every regard, superior to the RA, but that doesn't change the fact that some people would rather buy a new RA over an older Evo.

/rant

OP, good luck.

i agree 100 percent i traded my 03 evo for an RA. I love the evo performance capabilities but after a while that car just got too uncomfortable for my DD. Thats why i went for the RA more comfort feautures, cost less, looks good and still fun to drive. Everyone has their own reasons of why they want a certain car.

Exactly why I bought a new Evo X MR... SST + New car + Handling.

+1

Evo X is next on my list, once I have built up some credit and have a little equity in the RA I will likely go for a new X MR.

With Navi!

I still go back and forth between the 5 speed and the SST. I think I'm happy with the SST, just worried about modding it in the future. I can't complain about how quickly it shifts. No way i could shift that fast on a 5 speed! And just fyi, I never ever ever use the automatic modes. They keep the RPMs way too low and out of the power. Which results in lower gas mileage when you step on it and you are at 1800 rpms. Not sure what was thinking with that one.

I think I'm regretting the Navi / Tech package. (Though I do love my aero package). The navi is difficult to use imo. And the tech package is a bit under powered for my taste. Though I did just sell my VIII that was CDT Audio all the way around. My biggest complaint about the navi? Getting mp3s onto the hard drive is a *****. You have to put each one of your cds in for it to rip them which takes 10-20 minutes. And no iPod controls!

I'm hoping they find a way to put linux on that thing. Then I'll probably be pretty happy with it.

Increased registration? It's all the same here. Not sure what you mean on the increased cost of ownership. Increased insurance was $13 a month! And that $13k gets you a lot more for your money. BBS wheels, handling that blows the RA out of the water, launch control on the transmission, Brembo brakes, two-piece rotors, updated interior with sound deadening, more horse power, more upgrade options... the list continues.
