If you're doing a brake launch...

DO NOT hold it at 3000 rpm for more then 1/2 a second. I held it for like 1-2 seconds and it shut me car down in to "slow down" mode. I actually couldn't move my car until the warning went away. I also had to move the transmission to park, and then back to drive again. The guy behind me gave the finger as he drove past me, as I sat in the middle of an intersection (oh and mods, I wasnt racing, just trying to find the sweet spot for launching). I'm really starting to not like this transmission now...

does holding it at 3k rpm for more than a few seconds cause the transmission to go past safe operating temp? or is there some kind of failsafe mode that doesn't want you to do this?

don't feel too bad about this transmission, the double clutch manuals in Lamborghinis do this in heavy traffic after just a few minutes, we paid less than 30k for these cars, they are paying 150k to 400k for theirs....I'm ok with that

you can't hold it for even a second past 3,000rpm - though AMS tranny cooler could get rid of that

The SST wasn't designed to have the brake and throttle on at the same time. When the brake is pressed in, the transmission queues the next gear and "feathers" engagement. When the gas is pressed in it full engages the transmission. When both are pressed in it swaps back and forth between fully engaged and feathering. I repeat, you can't do this.... especially in the Ralliart. The MR has launch control (which is still hard on the transmission), and knows to stop that mode when going less than 3 miles an hour.

don't be improving your launch skills on an intersection lol... you might also get a nasty ticket if a cop sees you speeding "off the hole"

Very true, hence why the e-brake method yields better results. Like you stated though the transmission is still not designed to do this with too much frequency.

I tried that e-brake thing but that feels worse than brake-boosting the RA :-/

I haven't tried it personally, haven't done either, but in theory it should be less strenuous on the transmission. Although to be clear, neither is remotely close to good or okay for it.

I know clutch slippage isn't good for the tranny...but that's what warranties are for!
