Chapter 2 -- Picking a Colour

So, drama aside, thanks for the previous thread. Until it devolved into chaos, I got a lot of useful information. Thankfully, this question does not involve different makes or models or mechanical disputes. I'm asking about colour. The trim options on the RA is not an issue. I don't need the stereo or navigation system upgrade in the RA. In Canada, the HIDs and the Recaros are standard with the base package (sorry).

So, I have reduced my favorites to only two. ORIGINALLY, I was set on the Wicked White, and it was a clear cut case, but I have been glancing around at the other rides and Octane Blue Pearl has also gotten my attention. So to those that own the OBP and WW, what made you choose that color and do you prefer it?

I got OPB and love the color. To be honest, I find it gets dirty fairly easy but looks damn good when it is clean. I would suggest getting the 3M clear bra cause Mits paint chips fairly easy and also the darker the color the thinner the paint so a dark color will get rock chips faster. WW was actually my second choice cause I think white cars look classy and they are easier to get rims for cause any color rims go with white cars. I'm glad I got Octane Blue cause it is a unique color and is different then the blue that any other manufactuer has. Also I get a couple compliments everyday at Walmart, gas stations etc from people about how nice the OPB looks. Here are some pics of mine if it helps http://9glancers.com/index.php?action=gallery;cat=186

i have pretty much always owned white cars. but OB is also a great choice. Maybe try picking some wheel and color combos to help you choose what you like more.

I love gold wheels...that works with both paint schemes. When I asked my best friend about his opinion, he cited that blue has always been a "Subaru" color, especially when matched with the gold wheels. Sooo....I love the Blue. I have never owned a car in blue. I have owned two white cars and they have always served me well. I personally don't really subscribe to specific colors tied to cars. This was the same friend that warned me about getting a RA because the last Ralliart only added wheels and a wing that stigma still sits with some people.

I'll check the dealer and see if he was a blue...hmm...chips are big deal and apparently easy for these cars. They don't show up easily on white cars but really easy on black cars. PG is now known for its clean roads either.

Blue is kinda Subie's color, lol. Yes i remember the last post, **** was insane . i went with black and yes i found a chip on my car. IMO the WW is the best color, OB however is a very nice color option and will look great with gold wheels. It comes down to if u wanna stand out more. White is a little more subtle, cleaner and will blend in, as for blue well everyone will see u.

Silver looks good with a dark tint and imagine nice bronze or flat graphite gray Work rims. WW is my second choice with that same setup.

Personally I would go with Rotor Glow but I'm kind of partial to that myself The OB was my second choice. I really liked that color but the RG was a little more unique to me. However, the paint does chip on the Ralliart and the primer underneath is white so if you went with the WW an got a chip you'd be less likely to see it. Just my 2 cents.

The roof on my WW is almost always cool to the touch, so that's a plus in sunny environments.

As far as the colors, I find white to be very elegant, black is sleek, and the other colors make it seem too "flashy", at least for me. The less I stand out at a distance the better, especially towards the end of the month.

WW and OBP were my two choices. I chose WW. Either way you can't lose.

I went with blue; WW looks cool also, but everyone gets white or black. I like the look of my octane blue, I get compliments all the time on how it looks. Blue with black tint to me looks real nice. About the chipping I have minor chips on my car and only on the side. So if it happens it will happen, just get a new paint job from a body shop when it gets unbearable.

WW looks nice; but OB is my vote... and that is why I have OB.

Personally, I think OBP is the best color, and that is coming from someone who bought the car in black. Also, the blue looks nothing like Subaru's WRB, so I think you are okay.

A couple of things to consider: White cars stay cleaner (or at least appear to be cleaner) for longer. Unusual colors tend to have a lower resale value, though I think that blue is a standard enough color that that shouldn't really be a factor/consideration.

The other thing with WW is that it doesn't show paint chips as easily as other colors does. Bug splatter tends to stand out a lot but dust hides better.
