Rough FIRST shift
I just avoid boosting for about a minute (how long it takes to go down my street into my drive way) then let it idle for about a minute before shutting it down.
If it's a hot day and the temp indicator inside's reading 90+, i give it another minute.
So it gets anywhere from 2-4 minutes to warm down, that's good enough.

...I drive bat**** crazy from the stop sign on my street to my driveway (which is about 40ft). Then boost up the driveway, and slap it into P - turn it off; and go inside. If the cooling fan turns on...I'll open the hood; if not...I'm not worried about it.
I let it sit for at least a minute when shutting down, starting it up when it is already warm, I wait at least 15 seconds. When I get home I idle it for 1-2 minutes then pop the hood so the hot air can rise and GTFO.
I am not worried about the engine, I am worried about the turbo. That is why I baby the cool down period. The oil flow stops shortly after you turn the car off. If it is hot and loses the air cooling from driving and the oil cooling from the engine itself, that doesn't necessarily mean the turbo will be hurt but doesn't help it in any way.

I've found even when the car is just started that if I give it gas up to around 3000RPM in normal automatic mode and let go of the throttle that it will go into 2nd much smoother than if I hold the throttle through those gears.
