My RA insurance sky rocketed :(

So i just moved from a small town in North Califoronia wher i was paying 150 a month on the RA (18 year old perfect record)

Now I live in Phoenix Arizona and best quote i got is 276 a month
Now I am expecting that 8k new home buyer tax return and thought of possibly trading in the RA for an Evo X so
I asked about insurance on an Evo X and they told me 395/month at best this is ridiculous. Looks like i just have to wait untill I win the lottery, get a ballin job or just wait untill rates get lower as I get older

Phoenix sucks for car insurance. I believe the theft rate is 2-3 times the national avg.

Theft, not so much... but there's more accidents in the Phoenix metro area than most entire states every year. Chandler, AZ has about 35,000 a year, and that's a relatively small city.

I paid $387/mo. on my 2008 GTS immediately after totaling my first car.

Wow. Who is your insurance carrier? I know you've mentioned your age recently; I wonder if that plus no longer living with parents (maybe?) could contribute. I know that my insurance rates when I was in my teens and early 20s were horrible without the 'rents.
