No acceleration!!!

something strange happened... i was in the middle lane waiting to merge on the right. i was in sport mode when i stepped on the gas trying to get the very right lane of a 2 lane road. but after about 30-40ft of switching lanes w/ a speed of 40mph. the gas pedal suddenly stopped workin', i can not accelerate... i said wtf is going on!... no acceleration noise or anything so the car began to slow down. i was like... dont do this to me you stupid car (while stepping on the gas pedal a little by little, but no luck)... i've got no choice but to stay on the right side and wait for my car to stop. but then after about 40ft of slowing down and speed goes 5mph... the stupid gas pedal works again.

just wondering if anybody did experience this

Was it revving really high or anything abnormal other than no acceleration? Sounds like either it was not in gear or it went into "limp" mode. Either way not good so get it checked out!

overheating the tranny will def give you a limp mode and the timeframe you spent for it to work again sounds like its just that

try replicating the scene see what happens? but do it with the mitsu tech on your passenger seat!

Unintended deceleration.

Were you in sport-auto while cruising on the highway? Sounds like limp mode, as others have said.

not revving high or anything, just sounds like it was not in gear and it just started to slow down. not sure about the "limp mode" but at least the down shifting works fast.

I know in sport-auto, if your speed varies a lot, it shifts a lot more than I would manually in sport mode cause it always tries to keep you within the sweet spot but won't allow you to get out of it for split second if you wanted to. If you were driving in that zone where it's always border line between gears, my best guess is that it overheated.

Did the display show anything? Cause limp mode would actually show on the display.

sorry, but i did not notice the display cause i'm in the middle of the road and quickly put my eyes on the gas pedal (if i am really stepping on it) and the vehicles behind me coz i'm slowing down.

Limp mode limits the throttle plate and runs wastegate boost. They turn into complete slugs as you can imagine...

Once last summer something sort of similar occurred to me. I was merging onto the freeway and the on ramp was going up a moderate hill - I was trying to get some boost to take me in front of the traffic already on the highway.... my foot went to the floor and I was hardly accelerating, I swear I thought I was in a Hyundai Accent for a moment. I just barely made it onto the highway without cutting off the traffic, and once I was over the hill I floored the peddle and launched away.
Never happened again, thank God.

Here's where it was, barely even a hill: http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&ie=...12,334.09,,0,5

Sure beats driving a Toyota and being unable to slow down!
