Intercooler Guides
i just installed my X intercooler last night and the oem mitsu guides will not fit our bumpers at all. the bumper opening is too small, and the top mounting points are completely off on our bumpers.
we're better off fabricating our own from fiberglass or a sheet of steel.

^^ How did you find installing the FMIC? What parts did you use?
I've got the X FMIC/UICP/LICP. Just got the pipes back from powdercoat, and it really does seem like a simple job to install. Only thing that has me concerned is using the X LICP and using the OEM RA bov tube. I've read on here that it's possible if you just flip the tube?

Proteus - it wasn't my first time doing an intercooler swap, and i've had tons of experience with bodywork/bumpers as i did autobody for a while. everything went really smoothly though. i didn't get the X LICP, so i used the stock one. i used the X UICP bottom part with the Injen UICP upper part as well. fitment is like stock. no problems.
gccruz - i bought them from the dealership. $20 each side; money i'll never get back!

the guides are supposed to mount to the EVO bumper brackets, which is completely different than ours. even if you tried to trim the guides, you'd have to trim both the top and bottom mounting holes off since the opening on our bumper cover is about 2" shorter and not as wide either. then you'd have to figure out how to get it to mount to the bumper cover or the bumper itself. nothing really lines up.
Yeah I looked at fitting the guides when I had the bumper off the other day, and after staring at it for quite a while I saw no practical way to put them on there. I'm sure you COULD make them fit, but definitely not worth it unless you really want them for some reason. =)
