Oh no! Not another Ralliart buying thread!
I used this strategy
X amount of miles * 30 cents, just like they do for leases (so in your case they can drop $900 just for mileage)
Also remember about kick backs...Sales reps gain a 3% kick back after the sale of a car. So if they want to sell you the car they can drop another $7800!!!! It may not be that much but at least you can throw that you know about kick backs in there face. Even if they give you there kick back its a win win situation. They sell the car and you get a great discount.
P.S. It also matters if your talking to a sales rep who hasn't sold a car in while, a dealership who needs a car sold asap, A sales rep who has sold 9 cars for the month and needs a 10th for bigger kicker. It all depends but I visited 9 dealerships in my area and bought mine 60 miles away from my home town.
Hope this helps!

Thanks so far guys! I'll try to use these tips to talk up my offer as "reasonable". If they don't go with it the worst they can say will be no. If they do I have the feeling this car will sit at the lot longer until their sticker price drops at the very least. If and when that happens I'll get another crack at.
On another note, if any one has bought a car from outside their area, please feel free to post your experience. If this deal falls through I'll more than likely have to go out of state.
EDIT: Now I'm thinking of getting a 2010 from somewhere. It seems that the customer loyalty rebate doesn't popup for the Lancer on mitsubishicars.com but it pops up on a few dealer's site. Is it a dealer by dealer thing or is widely available?
Also, there's a nice 2009 demo out there, do any of you think the customer loyalty rebate would apply to that since it's technically new?
Thanks.

I thought better of my response and deleted it. It looks like it didn't matter, though. If you have a problem with me, save it. Calling names and garbage like that has got to stop.
