Recalls
ok, there is a "tech talk" article regarding this issue that should apply to your vehicle: TT-155-31-001. it basically is regarding rapid tire wear because the dunlops are "performance tires", but it was being used as a basis for replacement for uneven wear when applicable. they are supposed to have the car realigned and replace the tires only for uneven wear according to the article.
rapid wear, however, as long as it is even across the tread patch, is not covered as mitsu says the tires should be rotated more often than usual, again because of the "performance" aspect.

can someone actually post the recall for the Dunlop tires? I have the Dunlop SP5000m on my RA and I'm up in Canada and have not received anything nor did service say anything during my last oil change 1000K ago. Interesting...
like i said, not a recall, that was my mistake for saying that at first. its a "tech talk article" which is sort of like an internal mitsu tsb type of deal but initiated between tech's, not from corporate, then eventually it gets to be common knowledge and corporate mitsu approves the repairs under normal bulletin conditions. thus why you haven't received any kind of notification. it is just a known concern for some vehicles and there is an authorized repair for a component that is usually considered a "wear item" and not normally covered
the tt number is listed earlier in the thread, but again, it's only applicable if you have evidence of uneven treadwear on the dunlops, not just because your tires are running low and you'd like a free set

yeah, no problem, the key phrase in it all though, in order to have them cover a set of tires, is uneven wear. if they're wearing rapidly, but evenly across the tire, you're sol. this info was based on an unusually high number of complaints of excessive inner tire wear, which mitsu agreed to cover under warranty
