question about connector hanging in trunk

I'm not sure if this is a dumb question or not, not very knowledgable on car wiring but I saw this group of wires to a connector just hanging out in my trunk and not sure what it's used for, if anything. Here are 2 pics:

yeah that's the driver's side. Are there other subs out there you can buy that'll fit that connector? I've been wanting to get a small sub in my car for some needed bass, like a 10 inch. Nothing too powerful.

Probably not. Most subs come with RCA inputs.

Those wires go nowhere. Its just a way for mitsu to make that factory option easier. They probably stop right after the connector you see, with no amp, no use.

they dead end where the amp would be(under the passenger seat according to my mitsu dealer friend)they are designed to be used strictly with the factory amp and any aftermarket amp you chose will use rca outputs...basically like SOG said they make installing the factory amp and sub easier at the factory...but are useless to you

Ah okay, thanks for the help guys. So pretty much have to pay installation costs to get a sub wired then. I'm starting to think it's probably not worth a sub without new speakers anyway since I noticed the stock ones suck. Unless an amp will help.

Actually installing an AMP and subs in your car is really easy. I think there are a couple how tos on here, but once you do it, you will have it down forever. Routing the wires is probably the hardest part, but since our cars basically come apart with a gentle pull in the right direction, it shouldnt be bad at all. Check how to's and save some money
